"Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Some better quality pic :

There are some upgrades on the Universe as well, new heavy duty saddle bolts, locking nut pads bolts and noiseless trem springs. Also a new system by my tech with hard maple dowels in the neck pocket and new neck pocket/neck heel through continuous threads, the wood screws go in the whole threaded complex. Superb stability, great sustain.

Here's my late 90s/early 2000's RG550 w/duncan distortion, purchased new from Boogie Music in Phoenix, AZ. Right after I bought it I lent it to my brother and he dropped it into a metal sliding door frame, putting a good size ding in the rear part of the body. Aryton fixed it up so you can barely tell.

One of the things that drew me to it was the fingerboard - it's like a flame maple.

I thought I was going to sell it recently since it was in the back of my man closet for awhile, but when I started playing it again I couldn't quite part with it. To me, a nice Ibanez RG is one of the classic/iconic/essential metal guitars, up there with a Charvel San Dimas, Jackson Soloist, etc.

Did it come with the green logo or was that added later? I'd love to have something like that but with an orange logo, dots, and knobs to use with my halloween-themed duncan 78's.

just googled it, I see it's stock colors

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

I had a catalogue, well actually more of a pamphlet, from Ibanez around 1980. It had their V and explorer (destroyer?) in flame sunbursts. I drooled over that thing as a kid. Wish I still had it.

Love it!!!

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Some, great looking guitars and a very timely thread. I've been an Ibby nut for a long time. I just picked up an RG470AHM that I'm struggling to get along with, my 1983 RS1000 has me really spoiled. That guitar plays like buttah. I love the looks of the RG but playing it wears me out. I'll get around to posting some pic.

Muttzn, you mention a couple of yours have the "Big Brass Block Upgrade", what is this? That might be just the what the RG needs, but it has just a plain double locking tremolo (as apposed to any of the Edge models) so I don't know if it'll work.

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Let's see some pic Bro!!! If it's a Floyd licensed trem you can message the seller HOOCKEY and inquire about the specific model.

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Floyd Upgrades has a brass block for the Edge III that I have
But the block on the Edge III is heavy steel
And this would be unnecessary

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

As promised, here's the RG with a couple of it's siblings.

Is this bridge any good? Any suggestions on replacements?

I got the RS1000 on the left new for 14th birthday, I've yet to find another guitar that plays better. I like it so much I got the one on the right on eBay a few years ago, that one is flawless.

And last but not least all the Ibanez's I own. I am looking to sell the S540 (blue).

Hmmm, not sure why they're sideways but you get the gist.

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Floyd Licensed; not too much familiarity with them but you can always upgrade to an OFR. BTW: those RS1000s are gorgeous!!! How do you like the Pro-Rocker?

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Well, first off we have 'Divorcio', the gift I gave myself after my separation last year (divorce pending).

IMG_2277.jpg

The Ibanez 2011-2014 RG50DXZ, left-handed model. I love this guitar, but I'm not very familiar with this kind of tremelo, so I don't play it too often. I'm kind of scared I will break it, and I had to buy this from another state, so I wouldn't want to have to go to the trouble of locating another one. Kind of like my ex-wife.

Next, we have 'The Basher'. Bought on a whim for modification purposes only.

IMG_2278.jpg

The Ibanez 2011-2017 GIO GRX70QA, again left-handed. Removed middle pickup, 3 way switch - bridge, off, neck, trem bridge replaced with Ibanez hardtail - I kind of threaded the screws putting it in, so that's NEVER coming out again, took out the tone control so I could move the volume control - I never use tone anyway and the volume is in such a stupid place on the guitar, this is much better.

My favourite aspect of this guitar is the filed down headstock.

Done pretty much for the hell of it, makes it a little different, and fits so snugly in its much too small gig bag.

And finally, here they are side by side, as they should be.
