Shuguang 12AX7 9th Generation vs 12AX7B Silver Dragon

I really like the 12ax7 9th gen (I think the GT 12AX7C are these tubes)!
Now I found this new (?) 12AX7B Silver Dragon! Does someone tested these?
How do they compare?

You should buy one and tell us what you think!!! :)

Do you know which chinese preamp tube that the TAD uses for his 12AX7? I figured I'd ask since TAD is local for you.

9th gen Sh...whatever.
I use them and they are good ;)

The TAD are C9 is my guess!
Yeah the Silver Dragon uses some silver and are shiny in the inside and shall be like the C) and have a little bit more bite!
I think I'll try em out coz banzei effects isn't selling the 12AX7A anymore and I can't find them somewhere else!
I could buy some Groove Tubes but they're to f***in expensive!!!

Re: Shuguang 12AX7 9th Generation vs 12AX7B Silver Dragon

I know that they are great! I use a GT12AX7C in V1!
But maybe the new (??) one are even better!

The only statement I can find is:
These are higher gain version of 12AX7C9 with shiny silver anode. It has a bit more bite than C9 in guitar amps.

I should A/B them or better B/C them haha (I stole this joke from another forum ;))!

Looks like something to put in the gain stage of a highgain amp... get a couple and then report back here ;)

Still didn't test them so I give it a bump

Re: Shuguang 12AX7 9th Generation vs 12AX7B Silver Dragon

I bought 3 silver dragons off ebay and put them in V1 and V2 in my JSX. Man they lit it up!!!
I had ECC83C's in those positions and they sounded good. But these are amazing! The cleans are still buttery (MMMMM butter) but the Crunch and Ultra channels are CRUSHING!! I was complaining about more gain in my JSX a couple of posts earlier but not any more. The distortion seems smoother (but not any less of it) in the mids and the bass response is a bit tighter. Though the OD channels are still a bit dark (not complaining) there is definitely MORE bite on the pick attack. I WILL be buying more of these tubes!

My bandmates JSX is far from beeing dark and has plenty of bite! I think he biased it a bit hotter maybe that's the reason but I dunno...

I will order some if I got some spare time to manage things ... thanks

Re: Shuguang 12AX7 9th Generation vs 12AX7B Silver Dragon

www.kcanostubes.com had the silver plate chinese 12ax7's last time I checked. Watch out for ebay though, there's some guy on there selling standard 9th gen chinese 12ax7's as "silver dragons". They were still a good price either way but they were clearly gray plates, I emailed him asking him and he admitted that they were the gray ones, his picture of the tube had it positioned just so the little chrome support that all the chinese tubes have was what you saw.
