Signature Model Guitars...Yay or Nay?

I like the idea that the Signature Model would have been customized according to the artist's needs. Like, "I've played 400 shows with this guitar and every time I wish the volume knob was HERE, so let's move it on my sig model".

Other Signature Models seem to be more about unique finishes or aesthetic touches. Sort of depends on what your interests are at the time you're considering adding an instrument.

One of the coolest is the Les Paul Axcess. Sure, it used to be the Alex Lifeson signature BUT before that, it was a design that Neal Schon worked with Gibson on. Lighter weight body, Floyd Rose tremolo, shaved and contoured heel, reversed control layout when it was built for him with bridge controls on top and neck controls on bottom, DiMarzio Fast Track and Fernandes Sustainer in the neck pickup slot along with Sustainor toggles. Alex's was the same guitar minus the Sustainer, different pickups, GraphTech™ Ghost® piezo bridge saddles, and traditional control layout.
