So for the P-rails: Is this what I need in Radio Shack?

Re: So for the P-rails: Is this what I need in Radio Shack?

I'm interested in the one switch per P-rail option. I'm not sue if I want them to be 90/series/rail or 90/parallel/rail. Would I have to get two sets of switches to experiment with the differences in those wiring options?

Re: So for the P-rails: Is this what I need in Radio Shack?

You can do either configuration with an on-on-on switch. It just that an on-off-on switch is usually cheaper and easier to find. (On-off-on will only do the P90/series/rail function.)

Note that the two switch configurations are mirror images of each other:

hey Artie,
With regards to our discussion, would it be possible to use a two way switch to swap the black and green wires, in essence making a series/parallel switch, prior to it getting to the "tap" switch?

I'm not sure I follow what you're asking, but you could use a simple on-off switch to "split", and then a simple on-on switch to select which coil. (An on-on could be used for both.)

I'm not sure what you mean by swapping the black and green.

Re: So for the P-rails: Is this what I need in Radio Shack?

Simply swapping black and green will change the phase, not make parallel operation. A series/parallel switch can be done with a DPDT on/on. If I follow then you want to add a tap switch separate from the series/parallel switch? Frank already did this here:

http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=2_prails_2v_2t_3w_tspp

However, and someone else confirm this because I haven't had my coffee yet, the black jumpers connecting the bottom lugs of the push/pulls need to be flipped on one of the push/pulls in that diagram. In other words, in series mode it connects the bridge P90 with the neck rail in the bridge position, and the neck P90 with the bridge rail in the neck position.

Mike, thats more or less exactly what I was looking for, perhaps utilizing mini-switches rather than push pulls...functionality would be the same, right?

It doesn't matter if it's a mini-toggle or a push/pull so long as it is a DPDT on/on switch.

YES-CONFIRMED! We're fixing it right now, but yes the two jumpers from push/pull "A" to push/pull "B" need to criss-cross. We've got the neck pickup crossing over with the bridge pickup as it stands right now.

All that is missing in Artie's diagram is the bare with the green, connecting those two lugs together and then to ground.

I dont understand what is missing in this diagram? or has it been fixed?

You will have to excuse my ignorance here...but, with this diagram:

1. middle position is full hummbucker?
2. up postition (black side) is p-90?
3. down (green side) is single coil?

thanks for your help....i'm planning on buying a set of these soon, but i'll have to give this diagram to my tech so he can figure it out.

Hi Frank. I saw that was fixed when going through the Duncan website to access the diagram, however the old version is still linked in this thread from my post and those that quoted me because the old and new urls for the diagram are different. Maybe the url I linked in post #27 should be deleted to avoid any confusion. I'd edit it out of my post but the post has been quoted. Just trying to help out.

You have it right. The diagram in ErikH's post is good to go. We were talking about a different diagram, and it has been fixed.

That has also been fixed. Now if someone follows the incorrect link they get nothing. Thanks again.

Three cheers for MikeS!:yourock::clap:

Re: So for the P-rails: Is this what I need in Radio Shack?

hello..i am new here and very confused..these are my options for the prails>>
\
1) 2 vol (1 for each pickup to balance amount of pickup when in middle position of 3 way pickup control) no tone because i rarely lower the tone on my guitars at all.... 1 mini toggle is already there for old coil tap so i might as well use the hole for a switch.

so..1 vol for each pickup... then 2 pushpulls...and a mini toggle for series/parrallel... ideally i want the ability to have any of the 3 possible pickup combos for each pickup...(rail/p90/humbucker) and then series parallel option for the humbucker....is this possible? wait...would a pushpull actually give you the choice of (p90/rails/hum)??? its only 2 positions....where as a 3 way mini toggle is 3 positions..hence 3 choices?? now i am confused

2) 1 vol and tone control.... eithe 2 pushpulls or 2 mini toggles to get the ability to choose (rail/p90/hum) of each pickup.. and maybe the idea of a series parallel choice for the humbuckers is silly????
3) helpppppppppppppppppppp
