Re: so, how bad does my tone suck....really

well, i wouldnt say 'suck' per se ... but ...

myself, i don't go in for the heavy (over)use of effects ... there seems to be the core of a pretty decent tone there (was that the lipstick strat?) ... and in the right recording situation, it could fit just fine ... it seems to be missing some dynamic heft .. overly compressed sounds tend to squeeze a lot of the player's 'personality' out of the tone

but i think that you are on the right path

thanks for sharing it

I totally agree with t4d, the core seems good but the effects stuff takes you away, and we want to hear you playing the guitar! ;) (hope you know what I mean).

And it sits too far away back in the mix, like my neighbour would be playing git not my speakers. Bringing the effects down will probably solve that a bit.

Keep playing and posting! :smokin:

you have very nice hair :D

OK, sorry ... that was a "foamer" type response. :)

in all honesty, t4d is on the mark

you'll notice I don't have the nads to post clips anymore, but I've found that folks here will give you the straight scoop

I don't neccessarily disagree with what others have said, but there are times when you're just having fun with the "signal". This seemed to me to be one of those times. I thought it sounded . . . cool. :)

I do this myself, sometimes. Just layer on effect after effect, just for the fun of it. Then listen to it ring out.

Very cool. Reminds of effects laden lo-fi garage rock/ambient noise. I'm a big of that kind of thing, and if that's what you're doing, I totally get it.

Re: so, how bad does my tone suck....really

thanks for being honest.... when i have some time i will post something thats just: guitar->amp ;)

Re: so, how bad does my tone suck....really

That was pretty cool if you're going for that ambient vibe. Personally I'm not a fan of supersaturating the guitar's signal, but if you're into it go nuts!

Re: so, how bad does my tone suck....really

"the ones that have clean in the title are for the dudes who are helping me out with comments" chisel bitten is an old song that i felt like adding... it has e-bow....
:scared: :eyecrazy: :33: :oh: :?:

edit:
by now you have probably figured out that i cant solo... sorry about that. i dont know what im doing. i was merely an acoustic guitar player (strummer) for four years or so until i bought an electric about a year and a half ago....

The guitar doesn't really occupy frequencies below around 110hz... not really below even 200hz until those lower chords near the end.... the rest of it is just noise.

Try using less of everything. Less reverb, less compression, and maybe less gain after that. That should help cut down on noise... also try to figure out what the noise is coming from. Is it a pedal, is it a patch chord, try turning off lights and computer monitors and other electronic devices until you find out what's going on. I think that because your tone isn't bass and lower mid heavy, it should mix well, which is a plus.
