So I finally bought a Screamin' Demon….

What's your opinion?

Haven't had a chance to take it for a run.

Given that it's going through high gain amps…not worried about output. Just tone…

Re: So I finally bought a Screamin' Demon….

If it turns out that you don't like it and want to move it, I will gladly take it off your hands. :)

Looks like a Kramer Striker.

Yep. Pretty dang nice shape too!

Nice score. I personally think the Demon is a great pup. Not "stiff and bland" as Jolly said. Compared to a Distortion...maybe. Compare it to a 59 and it has lots of character.

I have two in my Frankenstrat (neck and bridge) and the thing is just perfect in that guitar. Sounds how I would expect it to. Sure, the output is not what one would expect but I've been able to get a lot from it. It loves high gain amps and high gain in general. Even in some mid to low gain settings it's been great. All in how the amp is dialed in. It works for me.

My SD sounded great in my Explorer when I had it in there. It currently has Burstbuckers in it, and they're kinda....meh, so it'll probably get the SD back in it eventually.

And nice score, Ace!

The Screamin Demon sounds great in my Hamer Studio. It originally had a 250K volume pot, which warmed the tone up a little much for my taste. The guitar came stock with a JB. After putting in a 500k volume knob, there's even more edge, crunch and harmonics.

Re: So I finally bought a Screamin' Demon….

Mostly I jumped on the axe because of the color…again - in my band? No brainer at that price. Demon was a super bonus, I'll set the Screamin' Banana up this weekend and report out.

Re: So I finally bought a Screamin' Demon….

That is a great color for an 80's vibe. Any changes planned for the singles?

I feel like in loop hell... keep clicking page two and same page comes back.... make it stop!!!!!

Ace.... awesomeness!! Wish all my pickups came packaged like that!! You know I love me a Kramer... that one is blinding tho... Always curious to try a Demon, but Ive heard comments like what JJ said. His tastes are usually similar to mine. Tho I prefer Jack over Dickel

Re: So I finally bought a Screamin' Demon….

I love the Screamin' Demon but it sounded a bit too plinky in the leads. Rhythm tones were crunchy and dry as hell, and the lower you tune the better it gets.
Now it happily sits in the neck position of my #1 because I wanted something hotter in the bridge.

It's crazy good as a neck pickup. That hi-fi definition it has brings an interesting character to the neck sounds. Split sounds super-uber clean, if a bit flavorless, but it's usable.
Mine does have an UOA5 magnet though, I haven't tested it with the stock A5 in the neck and I don't want to. The UOA5 must be adding some mids and taking some boom off, and that's good.

Re: So I finally bought a Screamin' Demon….

This like when I bought a JB and a Jazz and it came wrapped in an Epi 335 for a couple hunnerd.

Probably swing by G-shop and grab a couple of parts and get on it today.

I'll be playing trough serious effects and distortion, so I'm very optimistic.

Re: So I finally bought a Screamin' Demon….

Roll back the highs a little bit and bump up the mids. It has a lot of harmonics and a good growl. Give it a quick run through your rig before your gig.

ALWAYS remember kids - "Through your rig, before you gig!!"
