Any guitar would sound amazing through that rig!!! I'd be much more impressed if he was using a S.S. Fender 1x12 combo & a $50 stomp box for dirt & still getting those same tones???
I mean I'm all about taking a cheap guitar & putting enough money (pickups, pots, caps, Exc.) & elbow grease into it so it's a great player and sounds good but $200 seems a little high for the raw materials your going to get I.M.H.O.? I have played those things before because I basically had the same idea, the Hello Kitty in pink with a Nazgul or something crazy but in the end I went a different direction. I really don't think you can do enough to it to ever get it even half way fun to play, at least not without dumping so much time and money that it's just not going to be worth it???

That Squier strat series was really low quality, stiff neck, body didn't resonate. If you want something from Squier with a hip design but more pleasent to experiment with try a '51

i think you can order blackouts with he with the live wire classic covers as a floor shop custom, also i remeber seiing someone here showing a custom set of white blackened black winters, or you could just get one of those white plastic emg style covers, put it over your favourite bucker and install a duncan blackouts preamp inside the damn thing and destroy some buildings with a single chord

I disagree I have a Squire Affinity Strat the body has good resonation the guitar plays quite well for the price its a good axe. My buddy plays in a band he picked it up and said to me that guitar plays well I said to him I told you so. There was a guy on another guitar forum who gigs with this model. The quality is good and I consider it one of the best buys for the money.

Also, 'resonance" isn't a word I'd use for it=- more like a holllow short lived vibration that is mostly in the upper mids, like a squawk of some kind-aweful , of course, wood doesn't matter to many here, so knock yourself out.Invader is a good choice, and play with a lot of grainy gain. Gonna need some extensive set up work.

One does not buy a Hello Kitty for the cost of upgrades. One does not buy it for the resale. It isn't about the playability.
It is about walking on stage with a Hello Kitty and throwing down. Upgrades in pickups are just what we do. That, and Bad Kitty conversions….
