So how can i ever get that 'max' drive tone from a 5F4 amp like the tone samples on the Victoria site, because that is why i want one . . . best drive tone i have ever heard, even better to my ears than a fully cranked 5E3 tone . . . NEVER THOUGHT I'D EVER SAY THAT !!!

a little late to the party but...

i had scott build me a 5e7 chassis but with some extra tricks/mods and it is one of my go to amps. i run 1x10" and 1x12" in the combo. great tone for sure, i have a 5e3 clone too and its a great amp but its not the same as its bigger brothers. a twin is too loud for me but the super/pro/bandmaster is a great gig amp.

if i was going to play a tweed super i would put two webers, 10f125 and 10a150t in there. the p10r is not a speaker that i really like, i much prefer the p10q with its slightly warmer tone.

Get a 5F4 clone, get the best one you can afford that uses the best most period correct parts possible and load it witha pair of 10A100T's and crank that sucker!

I'll just add that a tweed Deluxe is a beautiful amp, but a little misunderstood: a lot of players have heard or read that it's a great amp, so they buy a replica or build a kit, then are disappointed that there's not enough headroom.
I've mentioned several times here that a Deluxe is really all about SUSTAIN and beautiful crunch. If someone is looking for headroom, it would be better to look at something bigger than 12 watts.

The Super/ BandMaster/ Pro circuit at 30+ watts is certainly giggable, and actually is in a great range to overdrive and get the Godly tone. And since it's fixed bias, you do have some headroom.

you may want to play a few more Victorias though, since there are several different models. I say this from experience -- a few years ago, I went to look at a 35-310 (BandMaster), and really preferred the Double Deluxe I heard. I got a very good deal on a used one later, and it's a great tone.

Victorias do pop up at good used prices on EBay and the Gear Page, but you'll need to do your homework to get the one that's right for you at the right price.

Which of those Collins are the Bassman circuit? Or hadn't it split off from the rest of the tweed circuits yet?
