"Damn, Decapitated gets some killer tones. I wonder what the guy uses?"
The tone on Spheres of Madness is the ultimate heavy metal tone IMO. So today, I looked up what amp Vogg runs through, and I find this picture:
It's nice to know that I think my amp sounds killer even when I don't know it's being used. He even uses the crunch channel, instead of the ultra!
If you've never heard Decapitated, it's probably the best deathmetal band out right now, in the style of Cannibal Corpse/Cryptopsy. While it still has growling vocals, they have a more midrange thing going on than guttural lows, and for some reason it's 10x more tolerable than the previously mentioned bands vocals. Yes, I said tolerable for vocals. While I don't necessarily like the vocals all that much, they fit the music fine, and that's what I'm looking for.
