probably means you might find some great deals on their stuff in the near future...I might snag a nineteen80 if I can find one....FOR THE RIGHT PRICE.....

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

holy crap, that's insane. for awhile it seemed everyone (in signed bands) was playing one. they got big fast. I hope tony is OK & wonder what he's up to next.

I've always wanted a chadwick since I tested one and thought their hybrid would be fun too.

their site doesn't allude to this - where'd you hear this?

EDIT:

woah, just went to his FB - looks like he's doing stiff amps?

this 20/50 looks like a good deal for 5 bones! http://orbitelectronix.com/stiff/products.php

That's so weird. I saw a Baroness video yesterday where they were playing Krank. I'm pretty sure they're using Bad Cats these days, but the timing of this thread is bananas.

Where exactly did you read/hear this info?

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

I just looked on the Krank site and couldn't find any info at all regarding this. :33:

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

Seems strange they'd close down. I know they suffered quite a blow when Dimebag left us, and them way too soon. Last I heard about Krank, they had just picked up Frank Hannon and that other dude as endorsers from Tesla. I've wanted to try out that 1980 amp since they debuted, but haven't seen one anywhere.

I can't say for sure, but for awhile it seemed everyone (in signed bands) was being paid to say that they were playing one. One month you'd see a press release with them posing with their new Krank, and the following month they'd be seen on stage with their old amps again.

There was some serious cash behind Krank. Full page, front and back cover advertisements in Guitar World, every "core" band on the planet suddenly seemed to have one. I think they were trying to spend their way into the mainstream.

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

Not that I don't believe this is true, but can we get some kind of official link? I can't find anything about this other than this thread.

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

On March 22nd, Krank Amplification closed its doors. Ownership decided to not fulfill existing contracts and basically exit the amp business.
Repairs under the Lifetime Warranty are being handled by Krank's parent company, Kinetico Quality Water Systems.

They have takin their forums down, facebook page was combined to the info page, and their last tweet was in July 2010. Kinda looks like it. Shame really, they had nice amps.

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

I would rather have something from Stiff Amps anyways. Tony Krank seems to make some pretty dang nice amps.

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

They had a NAM booth and partnership launch with Lopoline in Jan 2013.....

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

Seems like there's a lot more Kranks on ebay being sold by dealers.
Might be an indication!

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

Interesting. I'll have to look around for a Chadwick 50. I remember liking those.

As a past owner, and practictioner of the metal arts... Eat poo, Patrick!

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

I wish one of you guys whose opinion I trust would go play a Stiff Amp. Those aren't priced badly, and they have potential.

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

I know that this is somewhat old but I figured I would share this. I was talking to one of their administrators on march 19th about getting my krankenstein head repaired. I heard someone say they were closing down. I also seen that catero left krank. so i asked the administrator what was up and if they were closing down. Here"s what he said to me

"Hey Bob,

Patrick's really got quite a bit of back logged emails to answer, give him a bit more time. We just started a new production run of 1980 and SST amps, Rev + and K-stein+ are next up.
Not sure where "people on forums" get their information about us going out of business?
Maybe they got the winning lottery numbers too!!
Truth is, that due to recent events, KRANK is stronger than ever.
We encourage you to stay tuned! We've got some exciting things happening in the very near future!!
You're gonna love it!"

Yay! ^^ I think it's become cool to hate Krank. So I hope the brand really takes off again and makes the guitar forum world eat crow.
