Wow and wow is all I can say...... so here is a little back ground. My uncle is the one when I was young to get me into guitars, and in the early 90's he bought this charvel jackson, I always loved it and when he stopped playing a couple years later I bought it off him when I was 15. 3 years later I got other guitars and didn't play that one so much and my best friend was looking to upgrade to a better guitar, so I sold it to him
Years later I always regretted it and would of loved to get that guitar back but he still played a little and I left it alone....

Well fast forward to 4 weeks ago he text me about coming to his birthday party and I said yes, I haven't seen him in years, so in talking I ask if he was still playing and he said naw..I'm just too busy, so I asked if you ever want to sell the guitar let me know I would love to have it back.. he said ok

So last Saturday my wife and I go to his birthday party and we are talking and he brings up the guitar and says it's sitting in the case in his closet and even though I was his best friend he couldn't sell it to me. I though damn!!!! He turns around and says, yeah I can't sell it to you, your my best friend and it's yours, come get it when ever you want. I was floored, after 20 years I brought her home......

Killer guitar!! She needs a little polish and TLC though...

Are those J200s in middle and neck and then a J80 or J90 bridge HB?

I have a '91 650 Custom and it is my co #1 guitar for metal (my current avatar). It is basically the same as a Jackson Soloist Pro MIJ, which is just as good as the Soloist USAs of that time, with the exception of the Charvel having a rosewood fretboard and sometimes a different HB at the bridge. All of them have MONSTROUSLY good necks, the best in the biz!

Re: So stoked..NGD...2nd time around

Isn't this a top-of-the-line Charvel with thru-body neck, MOP inlays and shyte? I wonder what kind of guitar that led you to abandon this baby 20 years ago...

I had changed out the pickups years ago to get rid of the active system... the single coils are don lace and the bridge got changed when my friend had it and it doesn't have any marking...I will be changing them out most likely soon here...

Yeah this is the neck through one, it was the top of the line for this series, and yeah when your 18 and don't know better you sell it...lol..but I got it back....

Spent all day, took it all apart, disassembled the floyd rose and soaked it in clr to get all the rust off It, cleaned the frets up, oiled the fretboard, and buffed it out...

Which pickups are you going to install?

And does the 3rd knob currently do nothing?

I'm not sure quite yet on what pickups I'll put in, I need to think about it...lol...but as for the 3rd knob I'm not sure, I haven't plugged it in yet...just got it home late last night and been working on it all day...

If you decide to put another active preamp in it, I would consider the EMG SPC midboost. It was originally designed to fatten up single coils, but of course does the same for all pickups (passive or active pickup systems). It is quieter than the original Jackson JE-1200 midboost and just as effective, if not more effective, yet totally transparent when turned off. I have it in my 650.

I sold my 650XL to a band mate/friend about 20 years ago too, he lost his job shortly after and couldn't make payments so I repossessed it, He doesn't talk to me anymore - but who cares I got the guitar :)

Welcome back to the Charvel Family! Beautiful one you got there

Personally, I'd drop some Duncans in there and forget about silly preamps. I've ripped all mine out of my Charvels.

Isn't this a top-of-the-line Charvel with thru-body neck, MOP inlays and shyte?

Yup, second only to the 750xl
