Re: So whats the deal with "b stock"?
I believe MF's "B Stock" includes factory seconds (read as 2nd) and factory refurbished instruments. The guitars that MF has with scratches, dents, dings, etc. they usually list as "Blemished". MF policy on B Stock is typically full manufacturer warranty and MF Satisfaction Guarantee. I say "typically" as you should always always check for disclaimers on the ad/site for the particular instrument you are considering. The MF price policies/guarantees do not apply to B Stock as they usually start selling them, and will keep dropping the price over time, as needed, until they are gone.
I actually own an Epiphone factory second. The guitar plays and sounds fine to me. Epi doesn't tell you on the tags why it's a second but typically it's a cosmetic/finish flaw and they emphasize playability, warranty, etc. are not affected. For mine it looks like the neck and body were in two different paint runs. It's obvious if you hold it up and look at the guitar from the back; but no one can tell when you're playing it. I saved about US $400 off list and US $150 off what it would go for at a MF, GC, etc.
Approach it with the same caution and reality you would any instrument you'd buy from a catalog, online, etc. If it turns out you like it - you will have saved some extra $$$$!
