So when's the last time you played a really old Gibson amp?

Does "made in 1962" qualify as "really old?"

My GA5 is erm......a year old... Its goin on ebay within the next few weeks because I am not crazy for it. Once that's out the door, I will have Scott build me a Tweed Champ with a 12 in speaker.

I think that this would be a good chassis modification for your Tweed Deluxe, Scott if you are thinking of building something like it. Maybe, because it is so similar to the Tweed Deluxe. you can just use everything from your tweed deluxe (cab etc) and change the triode to a pentode preamp tubes. Just a thought, maybe save you some money if you wanted to create this design of amp.

I have an old EH-185. love the amp. I think it is from the late 40's. I might have a pic

I gigged with my 64 Atlas last week, opening for Corey Stevens.

Yeah, that is him. He actually, reminded me a lot of Clapton. In control of every single note. Well worth checking out live. It was a really fun gig to be a part of.

I play thru one almost every week.
It's alright i spose.
Apparently its worth over 10 000 dollars now.

I'd imagine a GA-79 would be the most desired Gibson amp, but I don't think the prices reflect THAT kind of pricing.

Aren't trainwrecks and dumbles going for $10k or less? :)

:eek13:

That's wishful thinking there Scott! Otherwise we'd all own one right? :laugh2:

Last Dumble that I saw sold went for 15K or so....the ones on Ebay have been 30K-40K.

There's one guy on TGP who bought his Wreck years ago for 12K.

There are a lot of guys looking for a good GA-79 but there are several Gibson amps out there that are harder to find (and sound better IMO) that a GA-79, however a good clean GA-79 will bring fairly big money...for a Gibson amp, nowhere near 10 g's though!
