Thanks man....sound like I think it should? Heavy and rockin? no overdrive pedal needed in front? Soupy, yet clean and articulate?

Re: So Who's Played Through A Marshall JVM410H?

I played one a month ago, but didn't get to really open her up. What I did hear a lower volumes was really good on the clean and crunch channels and not so good with the two higher gain channels. Makes sense though at that volume level.

Re: So Who's Played Through A Marshall JVM410H?

I played through one earlier this summer, and I liked it a lot. Got to crank it one morning at Guitar Center, right when they opened. The guy hooked me up to a wireless so I could stand far away from the cab and really open it up. There were some great, tight rock tones in there a la old Aerosmith and AC/DC. I can't remember which channel/mode it was, but there's one in there that I think I'd leave it on all the time.

Thanks fellas. I think I'm gonna go check one out this weekend just for the heck of it.:)

Re: So Who's Played Through A Marshall JVM410H?

I spent an hour in Sam Ash using one with a LP and 62 Hot Rod strat, and I give that amp the thumbs up. I was pleasantly surprised, and figured it out pretty quickly. Even though it's 100W, it doesn't seem like an overly loud Marshall, like some. It compresses nicely at a decent volume, so it makes it really useable. You can dial it more metal or more classic.

The mandatory purchase you must make if you buy one is to get a 1960AV with four Vin 30's. That type of Marshall amp really jives perfectly with them.
I haven't even checked what's in the matching cab there.

Don't worry about needing pedals, the amp is a metal monster....it has plenty of gain on tap. The only thing you'll want to do is turn the reverbs almost completely down....they're really dramatic when turned up at all.....instant surf.

Re: So Who's Played Through A Marshall JVM410H?

I played it for 30 minutes.
It was the combo version and sounded really good for a Marshall. It was like a well modded JCM 800.I think you're going to like it Jolly!

Yes! I noticed the same thing. In fact, the sales guy kept turning up the reverb, and I kept turning it down. "Hey, I'm playing 'Last Child' here, not 'Misirlou.'" You can always dial away the verb, but it's nice having lots on tap for clean stuff, if that's what you're going for.

Re: So Who's Played Through A Marshall JVM410H?

I've been drooling over one too. I even started a different thread asking if I could pull out 2 power tubes and safely reduce the power to 50 watts. 100 watts might be too much. I might even wait a while to see if they release a 50 watt version or something.

Does anyone know what type of speakers are in the combo? It would be nice if they already came with v30's...

Re: So Who's Played Through A Marshall JVM410H?

This amp is absolutely awesome dude. 4 channels, 3 sounds per channel, independent EQ, reverb, dual masters... and yet it sure sounds gorgeous. I loved it.

Re: So Who's Played Through A Marshall JVM410H?

I think the JVM flat out rules. If I hadn't already picked up my current amp, I would have considered this one. There shouldn't ever be a need for extra overdrive pedals or whatnot with this amp. My favorite sounds came from the Orange voices on both OD1 and OD2. It's also easily adaptable to any kind of MIDI rig you might be using. I prefer a V-30 based cabinet, but will also recommend the standard 1960 lead cabinet w/ G12-T75's.

The combo has some other Celestion-made speaker inside. I didn't like the tones in this one as much. If you're wanting a 2x12 cabinet instead of a 4x12, I'd say get the amp head and pair it up with whichever cab you wish. :)

Re: So Who's Played Through A Marshall JVM410H?

i'm rather indifferent to the JVM's inherent JCM800 parallels or whatever. i bought it because it delivers great cleans for my P-90 pickups + it sounds awesome in the drive domain- from smooth fusion type to molten black metal distortion, the JVM is it. as you can see in my last post, i'm hooking up the mildest drive type booster in my arsenal- my Rocktron Austin Gold- just to enhance the saturation at times.
