So you get the call of a lifetime...

Sorry, just too frugal to buy stuff just to buy stuff. Besides, I've spent my life putting together a rig on a budget that I would put against anything out there. Micing into a PA not withstanding.
I suppose that it's sort of the demolition derby mindset. Just another side effect of being born in New Hampshire I suppose.

You aren't buying it, the band is. You are just "picking it out" and "keeping it" as a courtesy to them. :D

The worst thing I can think of is having more gear. Whatever would I do? Call the fire department! Call the CDC! Boil some water and get some extra blankets!

The LAST THING you want to do is call the CDC...

Those 5 electrics by their math will turn into 5,555,555.05 guitars. On second thought, maybe they should be your first call.

Anyway...back to our imagination. :)

MY MAN!!!!

We all do, and probably more but that wasn't what this exercise was all about. ;)

Imagine the young gun, dream band calls, you are the man in their eyes, nobody is better for the gig than you. They are buying you stuff, anything you want within the boundaries outlined. The car is coming to pick you up in an hour, probably full of hookers and blow if you have that 80's mindset and imagination as a kid or you are being escorted by the cherry pie and whitesnake chicks....lol. The tech is there to make sure it is all wired up and programmed to your liking because rehearsals are around the corner and the stadium gig is a couple weeks out and you need to be dialed in. Dream a little with me. Yeah, your script logo phase 90 would work wonderfully but guess what? YOU DON'T NEED TO USE ANY OF YOUR EXISTING GEAR! THE BAND IS BUYING YOU EVERYTHING!!!! Build your rig. Have fun. That is where I am coming from. It's your personal dream gig and your dream band to play for. Enjoy the moment! :D

Is that what this thread all about? Steve Vai stole your childhood dream? Lol...

As I said before, I like the equipment that I have. The band can take all the money that they would have put into equipment and just give me a per diem.
