Solid State Amp guys list your amps

I have a few. Mostly practice amps. A Peavey, a Kustom, a Yamaha. I regret selling my Solid state Sunn. I have two hybrids(tube/solid state) - another Kustom and another Peavey.
I mainly use my old 80's Kustom for practice. It has an EV12l I put in it and sounds decent with fairly dark fenderesuqe cleans when I don't want to fire up the tubes.
The little late 70's wood cabinet 'Yammie' solid state with 6" speaker is a small old amp that is trying to be a little Fender..and does an admirable job for what it is... good little 'carry and play' amp.
The Sunn was a bass amp. Still sought after.
The 'ol Peavey is one of those 80's amps built like a brick outhouse. It has one ten inch speaker . I forget what its called. Its a little smaller than the venerable old "Bandit"...sounds about the same. They can sound fairly thick and good with cleans..nothing that'll knock your socks off.
My hybrid Peavey is the ol 2x12 'Classic VTX' with a tube power section ( 4x6l6) and a solid state preamp... good amp to run a tube preamp in through the dedicated amp in input! >this amp screams 'country', and I keep it for that reason to use with my Tele.

I have a Crate gx 130-c, I like to break out once in a while. It makes me remember why I went tube.

Line 6 Spider 3
Sometimes I use the Insane channel for grins. Accompanied by phaser, reverb, echo, flanger, all that good stuff! >:D

Re: Solid State Amp guys list your amps

I've been a tube amp guy forever. I recently pulled out my backup amp - Crate Powerblock - now that is all I'm playing through and using a tube amp as a backup. Total 180 because it's a great amp.

Re: Solid State Amp guys list your amps

I have a Behringer GMX212, an analog modeling 2x12 combo.

There's also a Fender FM100H head.

And a Hughes & Kettner ATS-Sixty, a 1x12 combo with a 12AX7 for the drive channel -- might as well be SS, I guess.

This is the Blazer 158.

Re: Solid State Amp guys list your amps

i have a TM60, nice clean tones and takes dirt pedals quite well after changing the speaker to a Wizard, don't play it much now that i have a tube head but i can see why Les Paul was using one for the past 10 years...

Re: Solid State Amp guys list your amps

Laney LV300 Twin.

Three channels, 2 12ax7 preamp tubes for both overdrive channels.

Pretty sweet amp, actually. With a bit of delay, the clean channel can be really warm and full and it takes dirt pedals pretty well for an SS. There's a stupid amount of gain from the second drive channel, but it can sound a bit buzzy when you're cranking the distortion and a bit thin for leads. It's a loud little amp and unlike most SS or hybrid amps I've heard, it actually sounds pretty good when it's cranked up. Loudest I've had it was at 6 and I was drowning out a relatively heavy-handed drummer. Didn't sound too bad, either.

It's the exact same model that the frontman from this band uses live (music doesn't start until 43 seconds in and it's hardly a superb recording)...

That's a stock bottom of the range Yamaha RG copy he's using, too.

EDIT: They used it to record this album as well. It's a bit better quality than the above clip:

Had a little Crate MX20RC since '03. Never ran it for what *it* did; always had some processor in front of it.

Just got a late Christmas gift... A Line 6 Spider IV 75. I gotta say, I really dig everything about it. Super fun thing.

Fender frontman 65r - I only use the clean channel and run a modded DS-1 and metal muff through it.

Ibanez GT10-DX - for when I can't play loud.

Peavey MAX 126 bass amp - needed something for bass. Sounds ok with acoustic too.

Marshall MS-2 - just to say I have one.

I had 2 crate heads at different times. Both sounded good

Re: Solid State Amp guys list your amps

I had a Trademark 60....killer gain and clean tones...shoulda kept it. Got a Trademark 10 in the garage for my practice amp...kool little amp.

Re: Solid State Amp guys list your amps

I have a Trademark 60 that I love...mostly stick to the clean channel with pedals for dirt, but the distortion channel is great for heavier things too. I love not having to mic it up, ever. The xlr direct out sounds great through a PA.

Re: Solid State Amp guys list your amps

I'm using MG Marshall's 'cause:

- Built-in effects
- Ample gain and 'sterile' cleans
- Rugged n' pretty inexpensive
- Lightweight
- Every company copies Marshall, so why not play one?

Re: Solid State Amp guys list your amps

This is the Blazer 158.

Blazer is a 8 inch speaker... the name 158 stands for 15 watts 8 inch speaker

The only all solid state amp I have kicking around is an Ampeg VH140C that can really do some great metal rhythm tones. I do also have a Marshall VS100 the old oringal valvestates. As far as im concerned its solid state amp even if it has a single tube and is mosfet powered.

Re: Solid State Amp guys list your amps

I have a Peavey Rage 258 which I found is one of the better sounding solid state amps... right now the overdrive is currently broken on it though high five!

Re: Solid State Amp guys list your amps

For solid state stuff I've had a Fender Frontman 15r and a Traynor YGM-40. The Traynor was a pretty decent amp if you ignored the terrible on board Fuzz.
