I think the SG is just a little bit better because the body is thinner.

No. The neck/body juncture is at the 22nd fret on an SG. Flying V's vary, but the juncture isn't that high up; on '58 V's it's at the 20th fret (the original!). Your hatred of SG's has blinded your objectivity.

How can a guitar really look "threatening"? It's a musical instrument, something that gives people amusement.
And if we were ever in such a desperate situation that we needed to use them as weapons, a Les Paul would be by far the most lethal do to weighing 10 lbs and not having fragile basswood points that fall off.

I thought they were the dumbest looking guitars, came into ownership of one, now they're my favorite. I like to think if the electric guitar had somehow been invented in the days of cellos and bassoons it would look like an SG. Just has that kinda renaissance look to it.
Gibson just tends to dress them up kinda goofy stock IMO. They look a lot sharper without giant mirror knobs and mismatched pickguards.

Probably the most popular guitar design I hate, but others love is the Stratocaster. For years I tried getting sounds I like out of them, but I never liked all the positions and I hate trems (tuning always suffers over a fixed bridge). The only one I ever enjoyed tonally in any capacity was a '62 AVRI that was alder/rosewood, but once I discovered teles it was all over.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there is no universal standard, and like the guy you quoted, I also think Strats and Teles are homely guitars. which is not helped by so many being in hideous pastel colors. Guitar expert/collector/dealer George Gruhn said that Teles "Look like a high school shop project."

I do think that Stratocasters are really ugly guitars.... but I buy myself a second hand MIM road worn strat, and yes, the thing is ugly... but is really ergonomic, so I can play it while I´m watching tv on the sofa (which I can´t do with my LP´s). It is also quite light so I can carry it on my back in my 30' walks (and back) to my guitar classes without getting serious pain in my shoulders. And some of the sounds out of it are pretty good (those famous 2 and 4 positions). So, yes, it is ugly, but on the other hand it is so convenient in many ways that my eyes are changing when I look at it. Starting to find it quite appealing after all.

not really. its mahogany body with maple neck and ebony board. 2 HH config (dont really like the EMGs he's using). the jazzmaster is pretty much the same. i love both models in flat black, but they recently made another one, kinda sand blasted, looks so awesome:

I don't care for the appearance of BC Rich Warlocks or anything similar, Vs, or pointies. Among Gibsons I don't care for Explorers or SGs. Again, I am talking about shapes ... not sounds. I like most Fender shapes and especially the Jazzmaster shape although I've never owned one.
For sounds my least favorites are the Ibanez shred sticks, although I can't be sure if the tone I can't stand is all the guitars fault.

My favorite way to watch TV is with a guitar in my lap, letting my fingers do what comes natural...
...but for some reason my wife won't watch TV with me unless I DON'T have a guitar. I don't understand what the problem is! [emoji848]

Telecaster's...they sound great, but are plug-ugly (to me). LP's come next...phenomenal sounding...but cumbersome to play & many of the finishes are plain gaudy/in bad taste (again.. to me)
