I see some of you have started these kind of threads, so why not follow the wave?

This is the bass i'm gonna buy very soon, MIM P-bass in Midnight wine, give me some cool and realistic ideas for it!

Re: Sorry about this, Pimp my P-bass!

First off, I'd put on some straplocks. I know they're not exactly pimp, but they are functional. I would then install a mint pickguard, a Badass style bridge, and some nice tuners. I would also try to figure out a way of shading the maple neck, as I don't like the way the stock MIM maple looks. It's a bit pale for me. That's all I can think of.

A new pickup would rock. Ask me for recommendations if you're having trouble deciding.

Black tuners.

A Badass bridge.

A D-Tuner ala Billy Sheehan.

Incidentally, is it possible to install a Kahler bass trem on a Fender MIM P? I would love to see somebody on the forums here successfully pull that off (with pics and sound samples, too :) )

Don't be afraid to go all out with the pickguard. You can get some crazy custom stuff done and it'll just make your bass THAT much more unique.

By the way - Nice choice. As one of the resident "Fender bass maniacs" here at the forums, it's always nice to see a new P-bass. Can't wait till it's finished...

I have considered that exact same DiMarzio in the past, but decided against it. According to the website, that particular model emphasizes highs and lows, which is completely antithetical to my approach.... I rely on a lot of midrange. It would be interesting just to give it a shot, though.

Yes it is.
It would be a pretty wild mod. I'd love to see someone here do it.

With it's dimensions there isn't anything you can't do to a P-Bass.
One of the reasons I LOVE Fenders. They're really customizable.
