Hammerplyr, the title of the thread was "sorry, but I can't stand digital amps" and if that was just pure honesty what's the point? Although most of the convesations since have been rather level headed, was the title just a wind up?

To your question, I've worked with self proclaimed "tube snobs" and as you may have read between the lines in my post, I've found that most are either not working musicians (regular studio or live performance) or they can afford just about anything they want.

So if I was David Gilmore or Alex Lifeson, I would be proud to be a tube snob and I wouldn't care that a large amount of my dynamica and bandwidth will be shelved by someone else, because those engineers really know what they are doing and will have the technique and systems to make it work.

See where I'm coming from? A 15 year old that is putting bucks into tubes and cabinets instead of gigs, lessons and recording time isn't likely to compete in these days of disk to MP3.
