Sound cutting out again!

I just played my marshall today and the sound cut out a few times completely. Once that happened I tested the cable by moving it around to in the speaker output to see if that could be the problem. When I did that the sound cut out while I was turning the jack in the output. Then I tried another speaker cable and the sound didn't cut out. So I'm guessing it's just that speaker cable, a planet waves speaker cable. After that I tested it on my fender ss amp and the sound did not cut out, even when I turned the jack in the output.

So I'm just guessing now that my marshall doesn't like the planet wave cables or it could be my amp again. The planet wave cable looks like this with little things on the side of the plug.

Re: Sound cutting out again!

Guess was dirty jacks that was causing the problem. I tried contact cleaner in all my slots then tried twisting the cable in the output jack and it didn't cut out. So the problem is fixed now, but it just seems that the jack dirty so quick. Maybe it's because I keep my amp in my basement.

Re: Sound cutting out again!

Sounds like the most likely culprit (dirt or additional humidity). Too much humidity may cause contacts to prematurely corrode, losing contact. Glad that's all the problem is/was.

JCM900 problems seem to be spreading around here like a plague! Good to hear the problem is fixed greendy, and I hope Erik's amp is fixed very soon as well!

Two reports isn't exactly a plague...lol. Besides, his issue has been going in. It's no the first time it's happened to him. Mine on the other hand, this is the first time this has ever happened to mine.

Any suggestions on keeping the jacks clean except for cleaning the jacks with contact cleaner every month.

Move it out of the basement.....LOL. :6:

Seriously, get an amp cover if you don't have one and put it on. It doesn't hurt to leave the speaker cable plugged in.

What's the environment like in your basement anyway? Is it finished out like Mike's (XSSIVE)?
