Speaker Cab Sim?

Who here uses them what is your take on them? The one in this vid has me thinking about looking into them for live and studio use. Although my Blackstar 40 has a emulated out and does some what the same thing this still has me intrigued for when I get another head with more power like a 100 watter. I could run it full tilt to get the tone I want but not have to worry about the sound guy complaining or killing the people in the front row.

That sounds pretty good! For goofing around the house I prefer just recording with a sim & reamping later when I can crank up the amp when no one's home. but I'd love to goof with that Palmer for sure.

I have one of those Palmers. It's OK to good. I use a 4-band parametric EQ after it.

What are your EQ settings if you don't mind my asking? Do you have any recordings? Can you make one with and without the EQ?

I've considered getting a di box with a speaker sim and building a load box to see how good of a tone I can get out of that combo. I read a premier guitar article today describing how to build a loadbox and it's incredibly simple. I'd just be using it for recording though. I tried my HT-20 with a cabinet on the stage and the emulated out through the PA and it sounded pretty good. Until I get a louder head I won't be needing a load box for stage use though.

I had the Palmer PDI-03 and, worked fine while in distortion but, not so good for clean tones.
I am currently using the TAD Silencer Attenuator/Speaker Simulator but, if you don't need the dummy load/attenuator side, you can do the cab simulation with TAD FANTA.

I make more of a cutoff at the extreme highs (I think the HPF in there isn't quite up to where it should or where a speaker is) and drive some mid spike. I think the latter is more of a taste thing, not to simulate speakers better.

I didn't make clips but I should, hopefully on the weekend. Need to justify the time than went into setting up a new mixer

That would be great; I would love to hear what the EQ does to the Palmer, whether it's necessary, etc.
