speaker reccomendation for line6 flextone

a little bit of background:
a while back, i put a hole in the cone of the original speaker that was in my flextone II 1x12 combo, by putting my footswitch inside the cabinet of the amp when i was moving it around, and just not being careful about it. the speaker that i have in there now is out of some cheap 4x12 that i got rid of about two years ago, and it just blows, to put it plainly.

would i be best off ordering a new speaker from line6, or are there any other speakers that would yeild good results at reproducing the sounds of the modeled amps without coloring it in a bad way?

Maybe you'd be best of ordering their speaker, as it is a modeling amp and most guitar speakers have their distinct sound, so you'd probably want the speaker it was designed for...

I think that Line 6 has since upgraded speakers to a new Eminence. I looked into getting a pair for mine some time back, but decided to stick with stock ones since I'm going to move onto a different amp.

You might send a PM to InstituteOfNoise on this board, he knows about all there is to know about Line 6.

yeah, i kinda figured it would be best to stick with the speakers that line6 uses, since the amps are designed the reproduce the tones correctly through those particular speakers.

the thing that sucks about the speaker i have in there currently is that it just doesn't maintain the same frequency balance that it should, and just the crappy overally quality of it keeps me from being able to turn up any louder than a decent bedroom volume. otherwise the speaker just farts out and sounds terrible.

I think that is a common complaint among the earlier model, and why Line 6 modified the speakers IIRC. Mine are flubby at volume as well, but I rarely get up to volume.

i've just kind of lived with it for the past while, because this amp is just my practice amp. but i've just recently begun using it to record scratch tracks and doodling in my apartment.

when i had the original speaker in there it was fine though (it would get a little flubby if you pushed the amp super hard, but that's beside the point). with the speaker that i have in there now, which was taken from a cheap ampeg 4x12, it gets flubby at what i would consider a loud bedroom volume.

I was blown away by the new Eminence speakers at NAMM that emulate the tone of Celestions:

Yeah, I've heard they're REAL good. I've got a Line 6 Vetta and I loaded two Hughes & Kettner 4X12's with Celestion G12H80 speakers, which are the Vetta speakers. They sound great. If you want them or the Eminence, contanct Dave at www.avatarspeakers.com and he'll hook you up at probably the best price you'll get. Don't go by the retail price. Email him and he'll give you his price.

Honestly, I've found Line6 amps to sound best with quality speakers, V30's come to mind.
