Anyone played a Splawn guitar?? Im assuming the build is excellent. Wondering if the neck shape and feel is similar to vintage Charvel? input??

Re: SPLAWN GUITARS?

Yeah Gene, Ive seen that, that's why Im asking.. Look TastY!! And I love my Splawn amp and I get the impression that Scott is a huge fan of 80's type shred stuff, so I amagine the axes rip...

Have you tried a Wayne? (current brand of Wayne Charvel)

Wondering how those two would compare

Re: SPLAWN GUITARS?

They look rad but the price is a bit much, well for me anyway. You could patch together something as good as that for a heap less. Heck i bet you could even get a custom body made and then just buy a sweet neck and i still think you could come out way cheaper.

no, never tried a Wayne either. Don't get many cool guitars in my neck of the woods unless you purchase them.. I cant afford a Wayne but I bet they are killer. Id be curious about the neck shape on those too.. My charvels are perfect..

This is my take on Splawn Guitars as well. I love my Splawn amp, but the guitars are just priced too high for what they are, IMHO.

What a creative and original concept. Gibson pickups in a Fender bodies? Next you're going to tell me they make a computer that fits in my pocket.

That's what I think, every time I see a boutique super strat for $2000+. Spend big on a killer neck, find a light alder body, and then the rest. $900 tops.

Re: SPLAWN GUITARS?

quit griping about the cost of a custom built master crafted premium wood instrument.
Get a better job so you can afford it, or just throw together a Warmoth, and then say you have one, and that it's every bit as good as any high end instrument costing a thousand-two thousand dollars more, and have everyone here, like Snakeaces, agree with you.
There seems to be some ridiculous notion that just because a Strat becomes a Superstrat, then it automatically can be crafted for so much less money than a $3000.00 Shur or Anderson Stock style Strat, well, thats plumb absurd, a Strat is a Strat is a Strat.

Whats wrong with you dancing panda?

Ok so here is an example. This is my parts o caster. The neck is a quartersawn charvel promod the body is a 2 piece mahogany, pickups dimarzio , and gotoh hardware.

All up i would have spent 500 max. How is this any different to those for 2g? anywayz just saying you can make a sweet guitar for a heap less.

I like these.

Nothing. I feel the love in your custom geet-boxes.Plus, you are perfecting them, they are getting better each one .
The Warmoth parts guitars, well, they are great guitars, even the lower level ones that are probably on par with a MIM sStrat can sound and play great and the real bonus is when you get great pickups in them.. I own a few, that I love, but to be real honest, I feel a Warmoth is actually LESS than the sum of its parts.Just my own opinion.

A Premium hand built Splawn, IMO is worth it if you can afford it. For one, the entire instrument is handcrafted to fit together like the proverbial glove. Thats why I laugh ( HA HA) at idiots trying to piecemeal from vintage parts an original 50's-60's Strat - they aren't made for each other and you are better off with a Shure, Anderson or whatever,THATs the magic of an old Strat or Tele, is they were fitted, and fit together by old school masters , like a fine old Stradivarius, and you just cannot buy old parts and reassemble them and half a hope in heck of getting the old Strat/eTle magic, no. .

I don't dance too much anymore, but thanks for asking.Your work is still a lil rough around the edges to compare it to a premium Shure/ Anderson /Splawn guitarIMO. I feel you could be on the level of the very best, but i do not think you want to do that, you would have to apprentice. You do great work great skills, trust me, I do not question that.I think though, if you really wanted to go all the way, you might try to study under someone like the Australian builder who constructs immaculate and perfect builds-shame on me, I forgot his name..

Re: SPLAWN GUITARS?

I laughed loudly and scoffed when i read the part about vintage Fenders being fit together like Stradivarius. They were just as mass-produced as they could have been back then.

It's called mathematics. You make 50 bodies and 50 necks with the same measurements and you can put any of those necks on any of those bodies. Have you tried reading a book before?

so screwing wood screws into wood now is considered fine art or smt? bolt-on is a cheapo method to help fast work on the assembly line, not any form of sorcery.

Re: SPLAWN GUITARS?

If you want a killer super strat or other style super bolt on.. look no further than our very own Xssive.

Re: SPLAWN GUITARS?

If I was going to spend that much on a Superstrat, I would get a Custom Shop Charvel.

Yeah, Charvel's to me are pretty much my faves.. Thats why I questioned these as I figure they are similar. Everyone is going on about the excessive prices.. Unless, my new contacts are completely wrecking my vision, (I am prolly gonna have to stick with glasses) I thought the prices on the splawns were at about $1200ish. Everyone is making comments about them being another over priced boutique maker like suhr and blah blah. Every Wayne Ive seen has been between $2200 and 3500. Suhrs at least that much, The Splawn guitars are cheaper than US BCrichs.
