Splitting 2 three wires humbucker with one 2 way toggel switch?

Re: Splitting 2 three wires humbucker with one 2 way toggel switch?

When in positions 2 or 4 we get the outer coil of the humbucker with the middle single coil pickup.
Dose that answers your question ?

Yup. I figured if you weren't sure of whether the 3rd wire was for splitting or for a separate ground it would be easiest to know by knowing if the current configuration was already splitting... and since it IS, then that 3rd wire is definitely a split wire. [emoji1303]

By the way, sorry it's taken me so long to respond... had a very busy day at work today.

Anyway, to answer your previous question... yes, just run the lead from the pickup to the mini, and then on to the switch. The split wires, however, can stop at the mini. This will make it so that you have the following two setups for your pickup selector:

Mini NOT splitting the coils:
1) Bridge Full
2) Bridge Full + Center
3) Center
4) Neck Full + Center
5) Neck Full

Mini splitting the coils:
1) Bridge Split
2) Bridge Split + Center
3) Center
4) Neck Split + Center
5) Neck Split

If you want 2 and 4 to be ALWAYS split buckers, then go ahead and run the split wire to the mini and on to its current position on the pup selector.

If you're still having trouble, I can try to find time to squeeze out a diagram for you.

Man you rock ! This is great. Thank you very much. Though i really really would appreciate a diagram, it will make sure that i dont mess it up. So please if you got the time to send me one. I will be thankful :)

No problem, but it might be a few days. What style pup selector, and how many volumes/tones?

Its a fender Strat, 5 way pickups selector (the one with two sides) 2 tone 1 volume. the mini switch is on/on with three pins Thanks again :)

Hmmm.... a 3-pin switch (SPDT) can't split two humbuckers. You're going to have to get a 2-way DPDT (6 pins) in order to do it.

Splitting 2 three wires humbucker with one 2 way toggel switch?

Hey MaxSed.... I have a question for ya.

I'm working on your diagram right now and was wondering how you want positions 2 and 4 to be:
• Always with humbuckers split
- or -
• Humbuckers only split when the mini switch is activated.

Also, are your tones set up like normal Strat tone knobs (neck and center, bridge no tone)?

Oh yeah, one more. Which pickup (neck or bridge) has the yellow wire, and which one has the blue?

I guess that was actually 3 questions!

Well, guessing you're busy this weekend so I proceeded on three assumptions:

1) That you want the coil split selector to do the splitting for you in 2 & 4 instead of auto-split on the 5-way.

2) That your tone controls are typical Strat configuration

3) That the neck pickup has the yellow wire and the bridge has the blue.

...and here it is!

Let me know if I need to make any corrections based on the questions in my last post (or, for that matter, based on anything else), and also be sure to let me know if you have any questions.

Enjoy!

WOW ! Brian This is GREAT ! work sir very professional, i really can not thank you enough my friend. So sorry for late reply was a busy weekend indeed...

-Position 2 and 4 humbucker always split ( thats the way i have it now and i really love the tones i get from them)
-Tone knobs 1 for neck humbucker and one for bridge humbucker ( also thats the way i have it now and i really like the configuration)
-blue wire is for bridge you got that right
-i don't think this matters much but the middle single coil is fender N3 noiseless pickup.

in your diagram when the mini switch is activated thats exactly what i seek to achieve an SSS configuration, but when the switch is off position 2 and 4 remain in split with humbuckers
and the second tone knob is for bridge humbucker.
Thank you very much again...

What colors are the wires on that Fender Noiseless N3 in the center... blue, black and green?

Never mind... I just went ahead and used blue, black and green since I found a reference to those colors for a Fender Noiseless N3 center pup online. Other "hot" wires could be white or red, but it won't make a difference as long as you hook up "hot" correctly.

Okay, so here it is set for auto-split in 2 & 4, changed one tone from center to bridge, and changed the center pup to a 3-wire Fender Noiseless N3...

Works like a charm :D i only have one very dumb question, will this operation (installing switch and splitting the coils) somehow changes the sound or the quality of the tone i was getting before i did it ?

Re: Splitting 2 three wires humbucker with one 2 way toggel switch?

It won't change your original sound one iota. Glad it worked for you!
