Does anybody have details of how they're made..?

I've got a very thin blade and I want to make one.

You can only do a humbucking stack design with magnets that do not go into the lower coil.

What about having a magnet on the bottom of both coils or does that make it an out of phase single coil..?

For the magnets to go through the lower coil it will have to be a rod magnet design as they're polarized through the length, top to bottom.

How does the Hot Stack design work using a blade pole piece..? Unles, there's the blade on top and a row of poles underneath it..?

Folks. A stack works by having NO magnets in the blind coil.

They can be built that way but there are plenty of stacked singles with magnets that run through.
I used to build them ages ago. Same principal as the SD Classic Stacks.

No, those have half height magnets and most stacks like that even have MU (magnetically isolating) metal between the coils.

It does not work with full length magnets.

Then maybe somebody should tell Seymour that his stacks with full length A5 rod magnets won't work.

No trick, The design follows the most rudimentary characteristics of a humbucking pickup.

Nope. The magnetic orientation in the second coil needs to be opposite for that.

The Alnico rod is North on one end and South on the other.

if so then the two coils have same magnetic orientation, north up. That doesn't work if it's really a uniform rod magnet.

No.... Lets say that the top coil is around the South end of the magnet.
Since a rod magnet is magnetized through it's length this would make the other end of the magnet (the bottom) North polarity.
The other end of the rod magnet (North) is inside the bottom coil.
One coil is South, the other is North.

Sorry man, that's not how it works. Each coils sees it's own North and South from it's own point of view.

You cannot have a pickup (coil) only seeing south. It doesn't exist.

What happens when you split a full size HB? It uses one coil. Either the North magnetized coil or the South magnetized coil.
Whats so hard to understand?

No, each coil in a humbucker has one pole up and one down, from the coil's view. Magnetism always has both poles.
