Does anybody have details of how they're made..?
I've got a very thin blade and I want to make one.

They can be built that way but there are plenty of stacked singles with magnets that run through.
I used to build them ages ago. Same principal as the SD Classic Stacks.

So what's the trick? That still looks like MU metal, the sheet.

Nope. The magnetic orientation in the second coil needs to be opposite for that.
The Alnico rod is North on one end and South on the other. How so?
The Alnico rod is North on one end and South on the other.
No.... Lets say that the top coil is around the South end of the magnet.if so then the two coils have same magnetic orientation, north up. That doesn't work if it's really a uniform rod magnet.
No.... Lets say that the top coil is around the South end of the magnet.
Since a rod magnet is magnetized through it's length this would make the other end of the magnet (the bottom) North polarity.
The other end of the rod magnet (North) is inside the bottom coil.
One coil is South, the other is North.![]()
What happens when you split a full size HB? It uses one coil. Either the North magnetized coil or the South magnetized coil.Sorry man, that's not how it works. Each coils sees it's own North and South from it's own point of view.
You cannot have a pickup (coil) only seeing south. It doesn't exist.

Whats so hard to understand?
