Starcaster "Strat" by Fender

Hello. I'm having a difficult time finding a nut for this guitar. Anyone point me in the right direction?



The nut's length is 40mm. The E to E is 32mm. Width is 3.5. Height is 4.25-4.5ish, hard to measure, could be 4mm.

Non-locking, non-roller nuts are typically fabricated...not bought

Even whem theyre selling blanks or prenotched blanks it'll require some further cutting and filing

Get a sample of Corian countertop material, hacksaw, files, and thickness gauges, make it yourself...or pay some guitar tech ~$40 for the pleasure (note the guitar isnt worth much more than that)

Unfortunately that won't work due to the vastly different E to E spacing.

Best bet is to get on eBay or Amazon and get the size nearest yours and have some sand paper ready....

Be sure to get one of the right height and thickness, a bit taller and thicker is ok. Make sure the string spacing is right.

Won't matter if it's 42 or 43 wide as long as the string spacing is right.

The rest is time with sandpaper...

Or make one from a blank ..

I feared the blank might become my only option. It seems the maker's of this guitar decided to use a completely non-standard string spacing. I'm thinking of using Black Tusq XL. Any tips on how to make the string slots?

The guitar is basically priceless because it has found it's way into my main lineup. I'm not interested in slapping some 1/2 assed DIY solution into it either. If I was interested in having a tech screwing it up (which has been my experience more often than not) for me then having to pay him, I would have taken it to one.

Get a few, and practice shaping them. It isn't too difficult, and you can use the old one as a model. The stuff sands really easily.
