Starting over. :(

I took my time and completed the cleanest wiring of a guitar I have ever done.

Working perfectly, nice new pot, everything great. But there isn't a volume cap.

So I wire one in. Then guitar was intermittent. Now there is no sound whatsever. Moving cables around, nothing.

No melted cables. Nothing disconnected. No cold joints. I have no idea what happened.

Four hours down the drain.

Starting over.

I found the problem. I am reusing a two lead cable that connects ground on the switch to ground on the volume pot. It also has an internal wire from one of the switch terminals to the first lug on the volume pot.

While adding the treble bleed cap, the heat melted the interior cable and it was grounded to the sheath around it. It was getting dark and I couldn't see it; its right at the juncture of that cable.

Heat damaged the cable in a hard to see place.
