Again, here's Steve demoing this pedal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWUhFLy9J94
I'm really liking it! You can set up one side for bluesy overdrive and the other side for anything from bluesy overdrive to molten modern super saturated overdrive.
And if you have a one channel vintage style amp like a blackface or tweed Fender or Marshall plexi, the Jemini will sort of turn it into a three channel amp with channel switching.
But the revelation I got yesterday when my buddy AJ came by to check it out is that with a guitar with paf style humbuckers or hotter, the "Green" channel on the Jemini excels at getting that tone Eric Clapton got with the Bluesbreakers or Cream.
I've been playing through my blackface Princeton Reverb mostly but the "Green" channel just nails that late 60's/early 70's British Blues tone of a Les Paul into a Marshall.
The "Red" channel moves you into more modern tones: Jeff Beck, Steve Vai, Satriani, etc.
Has anyone else seriously checked this baby out? It's a GREAT pedal, IMO. Very versatile!
To me, it combines the best qualities of modded TS-9 and DS-1 pedals. But with more transparency and less of that "chrome umbrella" that the the TS-9 puts on my guitar tone.
To me the TS-9 or 808 has this compressed quality to it that sounds a bit metallic. It's a very smooth metallic quality but it's there. Like having a chrome umbrella over my tone which will only let it expand or swell so far and then it squashes the tone.
I've never liked that about the TS-9 and it's the biggest reason I've always preferred the DS-1.
The Jemini doesn't sound exactly like either. But it does seem to capture some of the best qualities of both the TS-9 and DS-1 - plus do it's own thing.
It's like vintage Clapton on one side and Steve Vai on the other!
