Steven Slate Drums

Reckless Abandon

New member
Anyone use? I'd be using my Roland Drums. Thinking of a software instrument to allow me to change the sound of a midi file. Recording using logic X

Re: Steven Slate Drums

I bought their cheap one a few years ago. It's weird - some of the songs sounded killer and some turned out such that I hated the drums. User error mostly.

Re: Steven Slate Drums

I looked at getting the Stephen Slate setup. I went with EZ Drummer instead. I think it's a better program overall and while the expansions have to be paid for, in my experience, I pretty much only use a few basic sets and just change them out for the different songs.

Re: Steven Slate Drums

SSD is great, but better used as samples to layer into live drums.
The CLA library is killer, too.

Re: Steven Slate Drums

You can do that easily. If you are using LPX, you already have a wide variety of drum sets you can mix and match.
To use SSD, if you are using Logic Drummer, just convert the finished drum track to MIDI and use SSD as an AU instrument on the channel strip.

You cannot reverse this, so make sure you have a good revision naming convention.

Re: Steven Slate Drums

Yeah I remember it was quite the chore getting my version installed. They gave some pretty detailed instructions though - make sure you get and follow those

Re: Steven Slate Drums

I tried, even watched a video. Looks different for some reason. My Mac "cannot find program to open" I emailed company so we will see.

Re: Steven Slate Drums

just curious - is it still setup where you open up your DAW, assign the Kontact plugin to a track, then access slate within Kontact?
