i was checking out SRV's setup and i saw that he put 2 ts808's in line next to eachother. How does this overdrive piling affect tone?

He most likely had it setup with one set at higher gain, and the second one being used as a clean boost. Running a more distorted pedal into a cleaner one, just thickens the first one, and with good pedals it works....with cheap ones, the results can vary.
