American Fender Strat, (custom run for Guitar Center, black headstock with "Fender Stratocaster" embossed on it), JB jr in the bridge, Fender noiseless in mid and neck (don't use them much). I believe its a 2000, has some good dings, best sounding strat I ever had...IMO the wood really makes this ax sing.

2002 MIM Fender Reissue Strat. Surf Green with the pretty pearly pick guard. stock vintage wound single coils in it right now, soon to have a JB junior in the bridge. Gotta say, I love the V shaped necks. Love this guitar.

Re: Strat players...

American Strat, black with pearloid pick guard and maple neck. The only pickup is a Demon (for now) in the bridge. It has a volume and tone pot, both 500K. I wired a mini switch that splits it series/split/parallel. I am thinking about putting the JB I had in there before. I don't really like the Demon split. The JB sounds just like a Strat pickup when split, I just thouhgt there was something better out there.

I assume it'sd a MIM Classic 50's strat? What do you think of it?

Re: Strat players...

'94 40th anniversary MIJ '57 ri. Maple neck, alder body. Gotoh vintage replacement locking pegs, Graph tech string saver saddles, APS2 neck and middle, Antiquity Texas Hot Bridge. Main gigging strat. Nice, even, musical tone.

'76 strat. Very light swamp ash body. Stock tuners and bridge, super jumbo frets. Currently gutted. Will eventually get the texas hot out of my 57ri, as there's something special about that pickup in this guitar. Beck-like is the term I'd use. Unsure about what other pickups to use. Lots of bottom end and a bit harder through the mids than the 57ri.

MIJ Pink Paisley strat. Currently awaiting reassembly. Will get my BBQ strat's maple neck with sperzel tuners, med jumbo frets and transitional fender logo. New to the stable, and I'm quite looking forward to hearing what it sounds like when it's done...

do you prefer the japan squires? if so why?

Re: Strat players...

My favorite Strat is the one I just made using a prefinished sunburst alder body from Stewart McDonald and a favorite 57 RI type flame maple neck with jumbo frets that I've had for a long time and used on a few favorite guitar bodies over the years.

But this one is the most resonant and best playing Strat I've ever owned!

Surfer neck and middle pickups
Texas Hot Custom bridge pickup
master volume and master tone
blender pot adds the neck pickup to the bridge pickup or bridge pickup to the neck pickup.

Kluson heads
Cow bone nut
Fender '62 Reissue bridge/tremolo with 5 springs adjusted TIGHTLY and the bridge screwed tight to body so it won't move at all when I bend strings with my fingers.

Yup, it's 50's reissue. thought I said that, but checking back I didn't. good speculation! Anyhoo, I think these things are wonderful. Beautiful just too look at, and they sound excellent for blues, surf, and ska when you're up in the neck position. My only issue is that it's lacking some beef when I want to rock a little harder, which is why the JB Jr. is going in the bridge. But if you want to talk about bang for your buck, this is one hell of a nice guitar.

Re: Strat players...

I have a 50's reissue in sunburst. Its a great guitar and I love that tinted v neck. When I did my first string change, I stupidly put on strings from a set of 9s for the high E and B and the rest were all from 10's, so I think that attributed to why those would not intonate correctly. Over the weekend I strung it up with 11s and it stays tune fine, and sounds so fatter than it did with the 9s/10s.

The only thing I would change about it is to have bigger frets put on sometime. I can play fine with the smaller frets, but I prefer larger ones.

G&L S-500

G&L S-500

I play G&L, S-500's instead of strats. IMO they're the best strat on the market. Currently I have four S-500's, and all four are completely stock.

1982: White, Maple Fretboard, Mahogany Body, Metal Pickguard

1993: Three Color Sunburst, Ash Body, Pearloid Pickguard, Rosewood Fretboard

1999: Sparkle Black, Pearloid Pickguard, Alder Body, Rosewood Fretboard

2004: Tobacco Burst, Mahogany Body, Tortoise Shell Pickguard, Rosewood Fretboard

Re: Strat players...

The best strat I've ever played is my Grosh Bent Top Custom. However, what really gets me is the used G&L Skyhawk I got online. It's 1/5 the price of the Grosh and it has so much mojo and resonates like crazy. G&L really had their stuff together back in the 80s. A Legacy I played less than a year ago didn't have the vibe mine has, but I've heard that they are very consistant and very great guitars. I'm also really digging the Skyhawk's top of the line mahogany body. The S-500 is virtually identical in concept to it and that's probably G&Ls "flagship" guitar. I highly recommend their guitars.

I'd love to play a Suhr, Tyler and Lentz, they are the "strats to end all strats" along with my Grosh.

Re: Strat players...

2000 MIM Fender Stratocaster.

I've replaced the stock single coils with a P-90 in the bridge and a '59 in the middle. Initially I wasn't happy with the guitar, and even after changing the pickups I'm unhappy with the guitars sound.
Acoustically, just sitting down and practicing I love it, but when I plug it in there's all these little things...the guitar doesn't respond the way I want it to...

Re: Strat players...

Warmoth/WD strat. Two peice tobacco sunburst flame maple on ash, rosewood board. QP neck A2P middle, soon to be Custom 5 bridge. Pics will come within the week. Great flame and some quilted figuring on the ash back.

Re: Strat players...

Squire JV 57RI - Maple board, vintage frets, Ocean Turquoise. All stock save for the pots and switch I had to replace

Beater Strat #1 - Basswood body, sunburst, reliced by me, old Squire neck, rosewood fretboard, jumbo frets, Schaller style tuners, mint green pickguard and stuff, vintage Fender single coils in neck and middle with a dewound SSL-5 in the bridge.

Beater Strat #2 - Basswood body, sunburst, light relic by me, Allparts maple/maple neck with jumbo frets, Kluson tuners, white pickguard and stuff, two Razor pickups from Allparts in the neck and middle with a Hotrails in the bridge.

Beater Strat #3 - Basswood body, sunburst, heavy relic by me, Allparts rosewood/maple neck with med jumbo frets, Grover tuners, white pickguard and stuff, QP flat in the neck, cheapo pickup in the middle, and a hot ass Epi humbucker in the bridge.

Beandip Special (awaiting neck) - Alder body, sunburst, NOS condition, Callaham trem block, mint green pickguard and stuff, awaiting neck (being made by JohnJohn) and some Ant II Surfers.

Re: Strat players...

Fender California Strat, '98. It's my beater, I'll probably hold onto it forever because ever since I got it it's always sounded EXACTLY how I want a guitar to sound...the pickup change just made that more true.

Warmoth, 2004. I can see me loving this guitar once I get it set-up and maybe find the right pickups for it...It's got a bigger neck than my Fender and it fits my hands almost perfectly, plus it looks really cool...

Best Strat I've ever played was some G&L that I saw in a shop one time. Almost bought it except I had exactly $600 too few dollars...

Re: Strat players...

I play this one...

then again, it doesn't sound like a strat anymore.
