Strat pup Suggestions!!! Help

OK, I posted this before and got 1 reply...please help.

Alright, I'm going to sort of tell you the story so you get the idea right off the bat.
I have a Fender Mexi strat s/s/s and I'm looking for a Single-Coil-Sized Humbucker for the bridge pos.
At first I wanted a Hot-Rails, but I don't realy want to change my pots to 500k and I was told it can get harsh, then I looked at the lil '59 and the JB junior, and told myself "If I'm going to get a 59 I want it to be full sized and zebra", so anyway, I was pretty much stuck on the JB junior.
Now, I heard some user clips of this (JB junior and full sized JB), it sounded good, but alot of the time it soudned like it was missing something, like some low end (the spec charts agree with this). So anyway, I was still wondering when I was on someones soundclick (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/3/rockerfella_music.htm PLEASE SPEAK UP!)

and heard the lil '59 clip.....WOW it totally blew my head off, I was SO surprised. OK, so I'm pretty much back with all my options open so please help me out, heres what I'm looking for:

A pickup which has a really good beefy "crunch" to it but also SCREAMS when playing lead, and I also want it to have decent clarity and not get muddy under higher Gain.

I have a Fender Mexi Strat which I run through a Crybaby wah into a Marshall Valvestae combo. I use a moderate Gain level of around 5-6 most of the time.
I mostly play Classic Hard Rock, Metal, and blues and am mostly in standard tuning (this guitar will always be in standard because of the floating bridge) and some of my favourite bands (the type of music I liek to play) are:
AC/DC
Iron Maiden
GnR
SRV
Clapton
Metallica
Ozzy
Hair Metal Bands
BTO
Pink Floyd
Boston
Skynrd
etc... and many more!! Thanks for anyones help, clips would be appreciated.

Re: Strat pup Suggestions!!! Help

I think the Hotrails would serve you best, and the ones I've heard with 250K pots didn't have any problems to speak of honestly. If you want to tame it down a bit check out the cool rails.

I'm with Luke on this one. If you're wanting hair band, then the JB is the way to go, but you're right, the JB Jr. is lacking a bit. It's not bad, especially when compared to the stock pup I replaced with it in my old Epiphone, but I think the HR will get you closer to what you're wanting.

A 59 will get you close to what you're wanting, too, but I don't know how the lil 59 compares to its full-size brother. Maybe someone with some experience with it will be able to comment on it.

Re: Strat pup Suggestions!!! Help

i play the same genres as you and i'm also considering a l'il 59 or JB jr. From what i can gather the JB jr has a lot of high end (more than double the low frequencies). So i imagine it will provide a good lead sound edge - and from the clip it sounds like the lead tones of guitarists like angus young or billy j armstrong of Green day (this dude uses a full size JB in one of his strats). -- But i'm also thinking about the lil 59; it has just as much highs but has added boost in the mid and bass tones.-although a tad less output (~4kohms). But i don't think that'd be any problem as you could just raise the volume/gain knob on yur amp. Nonetheless it is still a really hot pup that performs well under distortion.--My friend also has a mex strat with stock pups and can get pretty damn close to Slash's sound of GnR with his Line6 FlextoneIII using a Marshall Silver Jubilee plexi model by cranking the gain- so if u have a Valvestate i imagine if u upgrade to any humbucker you can get any kind of overdrive/distortion sound u want. it's just a matter of preference. I might go with the 59.

Re: Strat pup Suggestions!!! Help

Thanks, I found my strat is routed for s/s/h so I'm going full size...either Custom, Custom Custom or '59....but I think it will be one ofthe customs because of more versatility.

One more vote for the Cool Rails. I use it in the bridge, (and neck), of my Strat, with 250k pots. Its one of my favorite Duncan "tones".

Do the cool rails sound like bright humbuckers? How would you compare them to any of the full size humbuckers in the bridge or neck, either similar to something or different from something?
