i received my DS-1 yesterday after having it modded by stratdeluxer. i cant believe the mojo he puts into these pedals. it makes my Vox pathfinder 15R sound awesome, especially with my hollowbody loaded with P90s. :saeek:

STRATDELUXER, THANK YOU!

to anyone who might be considering buying a ds-1, only buy it with the intention of having it modded by stratdeluxer. you wont be sorry.

Dammit I wish people would stop posting about how good his pedal mods are! I need money so I can get one done myself...

Re: Stratdeluxer97 Does It Again!

I have played several modded boss boxes...I have not liked a single one of them...But I spoke with Lew on the phone a few days ago and after that little conversation, I will be sending John a DS-1...and as soon as I find one a Vox crybaby!

John,

Thats very cool of you to do!

It's not a big deal for me...Not all of us are as well off as others..Times are tough and everything is just so expensive these days...Except my mods for forum brothers!

Re: Stratdeluxer97 Does It Again!

john,

what wah's give the best results after yo mod them, or does it even matter? I have an old Dunlop GCB-95...it's after the one with the wall-wart adaptor, but before the battery door on the metal bottom plate. Would you mod that one...it already needs a new pot, and true bupass is ALWAYS a good thing, so maybe I should just throw in the towel and send that with my DS-1...what could you do with it?

Re: Stratdeluxer97 Does It Again!

well, I got one of John's mod shortly after his first post about them. (I know a good deal when I see it.)
then I got another, and another, and another ....

now I can't use my old sig, "guitar/ cord/ amp" :(

There is nothing wrong with using a good pedal Curly. :smoker:

Thanks Curly....I Love you brother!

I think the Vox 847 is the best pedal for modding and is also the coolest looking pedal out there...We'd have to build a power supply board, but after that the 847 has a very easy board to work on...We could also add the external volume/gain control to the outside of it and of course true bypass etc...Depending upon how nuts you want to go? The inductor and a good pot are the first steps in getting the vocal range we all want from our wahs...I've done several wahs now and I have a pretty good foundation at this point on how to voice them....The CBs are basically the same pedal and both are made by Dunlop...The CB pedal seems stiffer to move when you rock the treadle back and forth...The CB also has a bigger pcb and pots mounted to the board which I don't like....The 847 is the one....Another great wah though,is the Clyde Vox reissue 848....I own one of these,as does Curly and already has true bypass and the power supply...This wah just needs the pot and inductor and some board tweaks but is about $50 more to buy then the 847....
