So what do you change about it? How much will it cost? How can we work out arrangements?

BTW - Anyone with the mod can peep in and tell stories of love and despair. It'll help greatly, thanks.

Re: STRATDELUXER97/John...SD-1 Mod?

I have the SD-1 modded by John, and I can tell you that there is no dissapointment. The tone is smoother, more organic, open sounding. The gain is also much more useable, the sweep of the knob works much more effectively, and I feel like mine has more gain on tap. Perhaps that's because its much more open, but I think there's more. One thing I did notice was that the tone was slightly darker, which for me is fine. I believe John told me his mods are more directed towards single coil pup, which would benefit greatly from a slightly darker, smoother tone.

I can still achieve the brightness I need with my HB's, I just have to turn the tone knob more towards the treble side than I used to. I honestly can't remember what I paid, but I felt it was silly cheap for what John did to it. You won't be sorry, and he turned mine in a week, including shipping time.

Re: STRATDELUXER97/John...SD-1 Mod?

All the darkness matching with SC pups made sense and all the tonal characteristics sound great...but do you think it will be recognizable for a DualH guitar through high gain?

Re: STRATDELUXER97/John...SD-1 Mod?

How about noise? I know the SD-1 isn't a very noisy unit, but still, any improvements/problems with this?

Re: STRATDELUXER97/John...SD-1 Mod?

My pedal is dead quite, moreso than it was stock. As for the HB issue, yes, I just have to keep the tone setting brighter than I did before. It will still sound like a SD-1, just a better, more open SD-1.

Re: STRATDELUXER97/John...SD-1 Mod?

I had John do a mod on my TS-9 super smooth excellent and very fast turn arround, Also bought a DS 1 form another member here that John modded. It is excellent as well. You will not be dissapointed

Re: STRATDELUXER97/John...SD-1 Mod?

a great mod

I can't answer the question about HBs though - I haven't used mine with HBs!

noise is not an issue with single coils

Re: STRATDELUXER97/John...SD-1 Mod?

I had John mod my DS-1 and my god was it ever worth it for the money. The tone is more open and very toneful, has more low end, crunch/balls, and doesn't sound as robotic as a stock DS-1. I play it through a 59b and it works wonders on my overall sound, my band loves it. But things I had to adjust were lows (down a bit) and the highs (up a bit).

Anyway this pedal is the greatest thing that has happened to my overall sound.

Hello Jon....Please IM me about the mods buddy....If highend is a concern,no problem. We just tweak to retain the highs...I don't like to get too in depth actually on the forums though...

Thanks always to all of my forum buddies that dig their pedals after the mods and taking the time to post about them..I always appreciate the feedback from each and everyone of you..

John
