Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

i voted for rose wood i just think it loosk nicer im not too sure aboutt the sound really. Although traditionanly strats should have a maple neck, so one day if i ever plan on buying another strat i'd get it with maple instead of rosewood as i already have a rosewood strat.

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

a bit off topic, i think ebony fret boards look sweeeet! so dark and rich looking.

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

Maple all the way! I think it gives a strat or tele the snap it needs. Rosewood is alright for a strat, but a tele must have maple. Why do they even make rosewood teles, anyway?

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

the feeling and sound of rosewood is muchbetter, but maple looks better(except on lp's)

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

My Legacy is maple, and I really like it. Then again, my Tele is rosewood, and that's really nice too. I don't think I have a strong preference in the end.

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

Since I'm a Les Paul Player, ...........I like Strats with Maple. ( LOL, Go Figure ) I rarely play a Strat, but when I do, I like the feel and the snap offered by Maple. It's a change from the Rosewood on the Les Pauls....:)

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

i must have maple for Fenders... it can be either rosewood/ maple on other guitars, but not for Fenders... :)

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

i would choose maple just because i like the way it looks better.

:offtopic: i loooove ebony fretboards though. i got a bass with one and it looks so awesome and it feels so good, but dust and skin and junk shows a lot more on it. (im lazy and dont clean it often so maybe thats why)

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

I tried both and I have a maple fingerboard on my strat. You figure it out....MAPLE!

Buy two, one maple and one rosewood.

I dig the way strats look with maple necks. To me thats how they're 'supposed' to look. I started out with a MIM strat with a maple neck. I abosuletely love the tone.

Recently, I came across a deal on an american deluxe strat in HSS. I wanted a maple neck but they only had rosewood. The deal was 20% off and was too good to pass up so I took it. The rosewood sounds absolutely sweet on this guitar! Warm and complex. Almost bluesy with a very vintage vibe and tone. I'm glad I have 2 strats with both now. It really is the best of both worlds...

Which one do you prefer...actually I prefer maple fingerboard cause I think it gives the classic sound and also looks much more pretty... :burnout:

+1

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

i only own one start myself and it's a Malmsteen sig with rosewood board. i love the feel of it and in general i don't really like maple boards that much. so my vote goes to rosewood.

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

I think you cant tell which looks/sounds better generally... that just depends on the finish of your Guitar and the sound you want... but rosewood is always a good choice X-D

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

maple has a nice snap to it, but i like the darker smooth rosewood tone also.....

Re: Strats...Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard???

MAPLE....all the way. Rosewood or ebony is hideous on a Strat.
