Strings?

Re: Strings?

D'Addario NYXL for electric. D'Addario EXP Phosphor Bronze and 80/20 for acoustic. D'Addario FlexSteels for bass. D'Addario Pro-Arte Carbons for classical. Disclaimer: I'm a D'Addario rep.

Re: Strings?

Historically for me it's been Ernie Ball regular slinky 10's but I've been trying other sets/brands/sizes lately to see if anything tickles me the right way.

Re: Strings?

I was strictly an Ernie Ball fan, both acoustics and electrics, but now I am using D'Addario for acoustics.

Re: Strings?

I used to use D'Addario for decades until recent events forced me to boycott all of their products.

I got a free set of Dunlops which didn't go well. The pack had defective strings in it. The low E and A were jacked and I couldn't tune them. I'd turn the machine heads and the pitch wouldn't change. I switched to Ernie Ball with the Cobalts which all of my guitars have now. I love them. I also just got a new pack of the M-Steels 10-46 which will be going on the new axe when I get it in a few weeks. We'll see how that goes.

Re: Strings?

Ernie Ball Super Slinky .009's on all my guitars.

Haven't really tried anything else in many many years, I got a good deal on a bundle of them, but I'm almost out so it might be time to try something new.

Those are what I started with before switching to D'addarios way back when. IIRC, they just didn't feel as fast or sound as bright as the DXLs when I made the switch. (I just used the last pack of my DXL bundle I bought years ago, which is what led me to start this thread... ha.)

Re: Strings?

It has to do with someone who works there who has caused me grief. It doesn't involve the company, but as long as this person works there, they don't get my money or support. It's my **** you to them.

Re: Strings?

Ive used D'Addarios 9s, like them, also used boomers, as well as Blue Steels. I just got my first set of cleartones a year ago and will be using them from now on. Did go up to 10s and that's where I am staying. Still like the D'Addarios.

Re: Strings?

D'Adarrios 9s on electrics
Bass gets the medium coated D'Addarios that Ibanez puts on them
Acoustics get Martin lights but I may go extra light on those
I tried to coated Martin lights but they sound dead straight out of the box to me
