Suddenly the Humbucker does't exist.

Jeremy nailed it..no mini hums and Firebirds would hurt me.

Of course hummy gigs would be a pain.

But tonewise p90s, jazzmasters, strats and telebridges can do pretty much every style of music.

So I think I would become a fanatic for Ilitch noise reduction.. and maybe
I'm moving that way one way or the other :-)

I find myself using single coils 90% of the time (usually vintage neck and middle, and an overwound bridge) . . and I've found that the quarter pounder for strat gets the mid-boosted sort of sound I want from a humbucker for higher gain stuff with a more appealing character.

No 'buckers is no biggie.

Yep.

With P-90s and Quarter Pounds, there is no need for buckers. I would miss some of the tone combinations of Dave's "do it all wiring" however.

All my guitars and nearly all my basses have humbuckers. I run a decent amount of dirt on both so I’ll beef hooked pretty bad.

Yup. I was going to say, load a Strat with a QP set, and play the notch positions. (Which could be a fun project even with humbuckers.)

Folk is lame. But if I didn't have this insatiable need for decibels & effects I could stick with acoustic

Two singles wired in series? Is that an option.

But yeah - I'd be using big loud P-90's

Yes. You can wire two singles in series. I think what I would miss most are those HB's with specific voicings and outputs. I can otherwise do everything I like with a Tele.

Hums are my favorite, but I also like P90z and Jazzmaster pickups. That's what I'd do. Single coils are my least favorite.

^ Dude I still need to make one of those. I want to make a triple coil 59 for jazz. I would be able to put 2 double thick mags in there. The thing would be syrup city. I found a blog on how a guy made the baseplate. Just a dang time commitment.
