Superior Drummer 3

Just realized you posted a question about VST stuff and had no other place to post it but "Tips and Clips".

This forum needs to get with the 21st century and have a DAW/VST topic section; badly.

I was just looking at that. I have 2 and it's decent.

I was also looking at "Get Good Drums".

The GGD stuff is cool as is the Jens Bogren stuff at Bogren Digital. If I am not mistaken, in order to use GGD or any of those other products you would have to purchase Superior Drummer and then add those to it. I could be wrong. This is a new world to me but one I am finally caving into and embarking on the journey down the rabbit hole.

I believe it is the Kontakt player (which is free) that is needed for GGD samples.

Ooooh la la....that may change things and save some coin. Superior 3 isn't cheap and if you have to add other packs to it to get the heavies (which is what I want) then it is over $500 bucks easily for that. I wonder if the Bogren stuff works off Kontakt as well?

I use EZ Drummer and absolutely love it. Not sure if it is better than what you are looking at but I really like it.

Is it good for the real heavy style drumming? I am wanting more than Rock type drums only. I will need thrash, death, progressive, etc. Which version are you using?

I'm looking at drum software too. I hate programming drums, but it seems like the only way to get things done nowadays.

And yes, a Recording/DAW forum would be excellente'!

You do not have to program EZ Drummer you can drag and drop sound clips and arrange them any way you desire. Or you can go the midi route.

I use the Drummer From Hell package. There are a ton of metal flavors.

Thanks Bruce!

So it works kind of like loops? I have some of the Beta Monkey loop collections, really good stuff, I just get ADD bad when going through loop libraries. https://www.betamonkey.com/

On a side note, has anyone tried the Steven Slate drums?

Yeah, EZ Drummer is drag and drop loops. You get 'drum styles' loop packs and midi files which trigger the samples. Very easy and very realistic...with the drum levels already mixed.

Another EZ Drummer fan and user here. It also allows you to trim edit and mix'n'match every part of the samples in the DAW's midi editor. Of course Toontrack's midipacks are awesome, but you can find a ton of free midi packs too on the net too. Those are not as polished or "human" sounding, buit definitely usable.
