Heating up the iron and prepping to put some pickups in my new to me Epi. Out go the whatever-they-ares and in go my new C5 and PGn.

It's been awhile, wish me luck!

Re: Surgery time!

Good luck Dr! No pressure, but just know that your guitar has retained me to represent it in the event there may be any hint of malpractice as result of your negligence.

Im anxious to hear the results! I keep hearing great things about the C5 in a LP but Ive not tried one..

Re: Surgery time!

Should be good.

What kind of Epi?

Its an Epi limited edition LP. Stratman got it from Jolly and sent it to me on loan when all my gear was stolen and later decided to let me keep it. Its the blue one in his pics album. Dont know a lot about the specs but having it open on the bed it looks to have a maple cap on top of an alder body. Cts pots and upgraded caps, stock hardware.

It has a killer neck on it and plays like a dream. I just got a new amp in and a few other toys thanks to the donations made from the guys on this site and the kindness of my local friends so I should be up and playing in style very soon.

More about all that later...

Re: Surgery time!

That's a great guitar and it plays fantastic. Hell, it even sounded good with the stock pickups. The only reason I sold it was because it never got any play time over my Gibsons.

Maybe you can shoot me the stats on it.

Like what? I don't know a whole lot about it really. It's an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I bought it online from some music store in Florida in 1999. It was brand new when I purchased it. I think I paid about $600 for it back then.

Re: Surgery time!

I always figured it was mahogany. I thought most of the Epiphones from that time period were.

Re: Surgery time!

Been googling and havent learned a lot about it but the body wood was blonde looking.

No biggy, its a player.

Re: Surgery time!

It's good to know you're up and at it my friend...

this forum's been missing you... at least I have.

Re: Surgery time!

Well it's been a long and hard road. Between having everything I owned ripped off including all my gear and my computer with all my music on it on top of a crappy work situation, well lets just say the last year has been a struggle.

But now I have a solid guitar and a solid amp. I picked up a Celtic from Scott F so I can finally get my ears ringing once again! work is picking up and I found an upper to rent from a friend. It's a small one bedroom with a kitchen and bath but its only $400/month including utilities plus cable and internet so who can complain. He's also a guitar player so I get to do some playing as well.

Now I just need to get my health in check, get my teeth worked on, get the van worked on and find something with added silicone to tickle and I'll be back living in rockstar style!

Thanks for the kind words Bro!

When things are picking up like that, you gotta savor them.
Keep us posted and have fun!

Re: Surgery time!

Gotta love working on upward swings! I'm hoping this year will be one big upward swing for my life as well.

But really dude...soldering in your lap? that's a recipe for burnt 'nads if I ever heard one!

Re: Surgery time!

That's the way I do all my soldering. Got my knee a couple times, but no biggy. Everytime I tell myself I'm going to start doing all my guitar work on a table, but it hasn't happened yet. Maybe it's going to take a nad accident to do it.

Re: Surgery time!

some time ago, I got sick of soldering on my bed all the time, so I went to home depot, picked out some planks of pine, and some brackets to hold em together, and basically made myself a tabletop which I put on top of a keyboard stand. booya. workbench for like $20.
