is it possible to drop in replacements for use with the s-1 switch? i really dig the s-1 switch but i dont really like the scn pickups.

Re: switching out pickups in strat with s-1 system

That's a tough call. The S-1 system is very cool. I've played Tele's w/t
it and i'm pretty sure 1 PuP is RW/RP. On a strat I don't know how it's
wired? You may be able to replace it with a Duncan RW/RP? You may
wanna try the fella's on the Fender forum. The S-1 switching is still
kinda hush-hush ( that is i couldn't find a schematic for it) but I'm sure
someone's demystfyed it by now. Good Luck. :)

I'll look that diagram over, and give you the simplified/Duncanized version.

Stay tuna-ed! ;)

Re: switching out pickups in strat with s-1 system

my only true confusion is that there are 3 wires coming from the SCNs and i dont know whats what. if anyone knows id sure like to be filled in.

Re: switching out pickups in strat with s-1 system

I've been looking at this. In the diagram that was posted, each pup has two wires coming from it. SD's would be the same. So, its just a matter of replacing Duncans wires with the Fenders - in the same place.

I don't see anything really difficult, other than getting phase correct. If you replace all three pups with Duncans, that shouldn't be a problem either.

However, if you're not sure, and you're not in a big hurry. I'm going to study this some more. In the mean time, maybe Kent will stop in. I think he knows this S1 system pretty good. If not, I'll get it . . . eventually. :laugh2:

thanks a ton artie. im not in any hurry i just cant afford to have someone elsee do it.

Re: switching out pickups in strat with s-1 system

Ok, here's a real simple mod of that diagram, using Duncan pups. I didn't change the wire color on the drawing, just the labels. But I think you can see whats what. If your present pups have three wires, I'm assuming that one of those is the bare ground wire. If the Duncans have those, they just tie together with the black wire to go to ground.

Let me know if this still isn't clear. We can work it out. ;)

S-1 switching with Duncans

Re: switching out pickups in strat with s-1 system

there isnt a bare ground wire like on a duncan...three colored wires. i need someone who actually has a diagram of the physical SCN pickups.
