T-Rex Pedals

Re: T-Rex Pedals

They are well built, and a bit pricey for my personal price range. I demo'd the Replica when I was looking for a delay pedal and thought it was great! Super quiet-no click on engage and tap capability.

I went with a DL-4, which I got for a nice deal and I'm impressed with it. I never thought I'd ever be able to tell, but it does maybe suck 5% off the top of the tonal richness when engaged vs. when not. That's one thing that would provoke me to swap it out, but not for awhile.

Didn't experience that with the T-rex.

That said, I'm sure other pedals can do the same as either, and in the end, my purchase philosophy is buy and hold. If I was looking to replace the DL-4, I'd revisit the T-rex, as I know I'd probably keep it for years and years, if I did buy it.

For the pricey boutique stuff, keep an eye out for the used stuff.

FWIW-I know this hearkens back to your famous CM thread, but the Red repeat was a hot little pedal, and would probably be the one I'd buy!

Re: T-Rex Pedals

One more thing, there are some good value pedals out there-namely Barber pedals-that are very well made and at a fair price range whether new or used. They don't have a delay or mod pedal, but their drive/distortion offerings are very nice.

I'd love to learn from others here some other quality/value pedal builders.

Re: T-Rex Pedals

A buddy of mine picked up the Australian distribution for T-Rex just recently, and he set up a pedal board with the Replica, Room Mate, Mudhoney, Viper and Michael Angelo Batio for me to test out. The Replica is simply excellent, as were the Mudhoney and, dare I say, the Michael Angelo Batio overdrive. The Room Mate was the best digital reverb in a stomp box that I have ever heard. The Viper was only an average Univibe style effect, no better than the Sweetsound MojoVibe. Very well made pedals, with excellent tonal quality and features, but I would say overpriced by about 20%.
