Talk to me about Solteros. And maybe Boleros.

Re: Talk to me about Solteros. And maybe Boleros.

Wonder how the Strettavita's are? Under $500.... Anyone played one of the new DZPLs? Only thing I dont like is the 2 knob layout. Im guessing the V neck is similar to the solteros. I had a limited run soltero and loved it. Im soooo mad at myself for letting it go..

It was korean made, so Im guessing the Japanese ones are even better.?

Thoughts?

Japanese Solteros are few and far between. I'm beginning to think that they may have been the sleeper of that model. Some of the best I have played out of the 40 or so Solteros I have played. The USA MHG models were fantastic.

If that one at Tampa GC was another color I might be interested but not that color.

Yeah, I figure that it would be a winner. Japanese quality and a good guitar. The one I had was great and it was made in Korea (I think). So Japanese would be even better Im sure.

So spring must be right around the corner because that's the time of year I seriously consider adding to my stable of neglected guitars. This year I've been seriously considering a white Dean Soltero or maybe a DBZ Bolero. My budget dictates these would be in the Korean range. Anyone have any experience with either of these? What are they like? How Les Pauly do they sound/feel? I also have a Dean '79 reissue V. How would either sound compared to that? Sound is part of the reason but I am a shallow person so the other part of the reason I am considering one is I like the subtle, added contour to the body. There may be better LP clones for sound but I'm really digging that contour. It's sexy. Should I do it? Should I save my money? Or should I instead try and find a Retronix and save my pennies for one of those instead because they're sexy too.

I own a original (2010) DBZ Bolero guitar. It's greatly constructed. Sadly pots, input jack and pickup selector had to be fixed several times. I replaced the stock humbuckers with a SH-5 and a 59n. Other than that, they're great guitars. They should be even better now that they're DBZ/Diamond guitar, come stock with Seymour Duncan humbuckers, and I sense a higher sense of quality.

For an affordable, good guitar... go for the Dean Zelinsky Private Label. Almost the same specs as the original DBZ Guitars. Just change pickups and WALA! A great guitar for whatever you need! My DBZ Bolero compares to my Gibson in tone (just a little different). The neck is different to the Gibson feel, but pretty good. The V neck feels great and perfect as it is. No need to be afraid!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!
