Tech question: floyd conversions

I am seriously considering buying this charvel from New York, but I was wondering how much a tech would charge to drop an original floyd rose in it (non-recessed), or if it is even possible. It's simply described as a "vintage trem," so I don't know much more than that.

And yes, I know it looks kinda cheesy, but I would be using it for a purposely cheesy 80's-type band.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys! :)

Routing, refinishing, setup: I´d take about 100 Euros plus the Floyd itself, so about 150 nucks plus trem ;)

I wouldn't think it'd need a refinish unless you routed it for recessed floyd. Unless you absolutely MUST have a floyd, I'd say a wilkenson with locking tuners would be great in that guitar, and almost a direct replacement. The floyd might even be a direct replacement.

I had this one done a couple years ago. It was about $200 + the Floyd...but it's a recessed install.

No refin was necessary, even with the thick poly finish.

Yeah, I should have worded that differently. I meant finishing / sealing the rout, which is usually done in matching paint where possible, otherwise generally black. But then again, it already has a trem (which I overlooked, sorry), so like you said, if it´s not going to be recessed.... ;)

BTW: The Jackson 2-hole Vintage trems do NOT have posts that line up with those of a VS-100 or VS-50 series Wilkinson. A Wilkinson conversion on a Charvel Journeyman is just as expensive /the same amount of work as a Floyd conversion ;)

Re: Tech question: floyd conversions

My Strat conversion cost $200 for the route plus the bridge as well. Non-recessed will probably be cheaper, but nothing is quite like banging a handful of harmonics and pulling up hard on that bar......

Re: Tech question: floyd conversions

If the MMEB Sub guitars had an option where you could get a locking trem with them then it'd be my perfect guitar... if my guy at GC hooks me up with one I may just do it! Just get the sub and rout a floyd into it. Although I wonder if maybe some sperzels, a teflon nut and a wilkinson would be cheaper... maybe it'd even drop in.
