It doesnt look like you have used a grain filler? It would take 100 coats of nitro to fill the pores and get a mirror flat finish. Or are you going for an open pore gibson faded type finish? Either way I like the colour, looking good so far!

I usually spray a couple three coats of vinyl sealer before doing any grain filling... when do you grain fill? :33:

I think grain filling is over rated... spray lacquer until it is smooth! :18:

Of the two people who voted on more or less cherry and counting my vote and my wifes vote makes it an even tie for 3 that think it is ready for sealer and 3 that want more stain. I think I am going to go with more stain... make a little bit more cherry red. Getting back later with the look see. All the rest of the parts coming tomorrow. Happy happy joy joy.

More Cherry seems to work. Here I am with the first coat of vinyl sealer. I think one more coat of sealer then the grain fill. Then I can begin some clear coats of nitrocellulose lacquer. Is there any real talent in making a piece of Ash look like a piece of Cherry?
