Re: Tele mods

Close enough I think for the money. :D

However, I think Philadelphia Luthiers may have something for us. Going to have to try these on the next order

Re: Tele mods

look similar, feel totally different. the callaham is heavier but its the knurl that is so different. like i said before, its almost sharp to the touch. i just freakin love em.

those plt knobs look interesting, for $8 i might have to try em

Re: Tele mods

Callaham sells them raw off the mill, whereas others dull the edges and then plate them.

I covet the original Charvel Pro Mod knobs because of the heavy knurling. You have to remove the black, but it is easy enough.

Re: Tele mods

just ordered a set of the plt knobs to check out, not expecting them to be as good but for $15 for two... ill take a chance

Re: Tele mods

I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered there. I don't know how the knobs will compare, but I am sure they are quality.

I will wait to order in case you don't like them. :p

Re: Tele mods

ha! fair enough. got the email they shipped so should know soon. got a fender tele with wimpy stock knobs so ill toss these on and see how it goes. im not expecting the jagged callaham variety but ill be happy if they have 20% bite than the allparts

Re: Tele mods

got the knobs and they are nice. better than anything ive got from allparts but still no callaham. still, for less than half the price they are a nice knob for sure and will be a good replacement for an old 80's american tele ive been playing lately

Re: Tele mods

Maybe I'll try those out. All this knob-talk's got me thinking the Squier's are pretty cheapo feeling.

Re: Tele mods

I was playing my Ibanez RG4 just moments ago and noticed how thin and flimsy the knobs felt

The Brass top hat knobs on my Florentine by comparison felt great

Re: Tele mods

Split shaft vintage tuners are superior to all. Fastest string changes, cleanest install, lightest weight, you can remove and reuse the strings, and they sound vintage correct.

The Gotoh In Tune comp saddles is a worthy upgrade.

this is where its at.
Only other cool thing is the "fezz parka" wiring which adds a single wire to the tone/vol setup so it is more like 50s gibson style.
