Re: tele players - opinions needed

I voted for the Highway 1 Texas Tele. Although I could really go either way. The Lite Ash's quality consistancy is not that great. You might find 1 out of 10 is worth a darn. The Highway 1 is a different animal. It's pickups are hotter and it's designed to look worn. The finish on mine is already fading and chipping. The hardware and electronics, except the pickups, are pretty bad on the Lite Ash. I don't like the natural finish either; but that's just me....

I don't know any of them (not even the price) but I'd got for the best quality one. Once you have the axe you can inproove it with new tuners, electronics and pickups. If you don't have the money right now you will in a few days/months/years. But if the wood, finish and builng quality are bad there won't be anyway to fix it. You can allways load your axe with Duncans later...

If you're ordering, I think the odds of getting a good one will be with the Highway 1....they seem to be more consistent.

I really wanted to like the lite ash models because I love a natural finish & birdseye maple, but every one I've tried have been dogs.

But be warned, rumours are that Fender will be discontinuing the Highway 1 series, so whilst you may be able to score 2nd hands, the range of selection you have is diminishing! Be quick or be dead (up the irons!)

As lovely as the Lite ash looks there are lots of them with serious neck issues. I friend a GC told me they are constantly sending them back. The good ones are very cool. I would not order one online, I would have to see it in hand.

The Highway Texas because it is made in the US and it has a 12" radius neck.

If they were going to discontinue them then odds are the Highwau 1's wouldn't of been at NAMM and they would of announced that they would be halting production.

Please either cite a reliable source for this or don't spread rumors.

Neither do I. The finish looks like it's an inch thick. Besides, you can always put Duncans in the Highway 1.

Hwy 1's are just special guitars. I'd suggest getting one. If I had the dough I'd buy one and turn it into an esquire.

Well I just got a lite ash tele and like it quite a bit. I bought it second hand over the web for $450. The price was right for me and I am very statisfied with the guitar.

Now I was a bit ify about buying a korean fender unseen, but figuered if it was a dog I could sell it off for what I paid. Luckly I'm happy with it.

I agree with everyone who says to run the racks with these guitars. But I feel that way abought all guitars in general. I just wanted to say the lite ash teles can be good buys if you get a good one.
