Re: The Distortion Poll

My main sound allways starts with the amp.

Pedals (for me) just sit on top of the sound.

For lead though, I use a TS-9 as well.

Re: The Distortion Poll

The amp...

....I've used lots of hot pickups, yet none of them have ever distorted on me.

Re: The Distortion Poll

I put my amp on a saturated tube clean, right on the edge of breakup, then i set my pedal for some extra gain. Its a subtle fuzz, almost an overdrive.

Re: The Distortion Poll

It should have been asked differently,

Guitar - amp
Guitar/hot pups - amp
guitar/od - amp
guitar/od/hot pup - amp
guitar/dist pedal - Clean amp
Guitar/dist pedal/hot pup -Clean amp

If you bring pups into it ...

Re: The Distortion Poll

All my gain- 98% of my sound is coming from the head. I only use a pedal for leads or "boost" type parts.

Re: The Distortion Poll

With the stacks... overdriven amp and a ZW-44 for lead boosts. Or Rectified Distortion>Twinreverb.

Re: The Distortion Poll

Distortion definitely starts with the amp, assuming you don't use distortion pedals. It's where all the wonderful magic of signal clipping takes place!

Re: The Distortion Poll

I hit a JCM800 with fat hot humbuckers, no pedals here.

Re: The Distortion Poll

Keep my amp clean (ish, sometimes its kind of broken up) and hit it with my Triboost for a lead.

Re: The Distortion Poll

I use a JCM 800 that is set pretty clean. It can be pushed into overdrive very easily, so I use pedals and whatnot to do so. Plus, high gain pedals sound brutal through it. :rocket:

Re: The Distortion Poll

same here. i took pedals out of my signal chain completely (maybe an eq or something though). just crank it and let your livewires overdrive the tubes
