The 'Djentstick'.

So I'm not entirely sure if this is the place for this, but I guess this counts as a guitar..

I came across this article on my 'musical travels' and I'm slightly stumped by it. I've never had a personal like for the 'Djent' style but it has to be said that it has it's own tonality.

So much so that even a 'stick' can emulate it...

That aside, I do think the article poses an interesting question on 'gear snobbery'.
I have my own thoughts on it, but thought I'd 'share this with the group'.

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

Well, diddle my bow. It Might Get Loud. ;)

I hope that you realise that your use of an EMG-81 pickup will attract mass derision. :D

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

love that he's using some lego pieces for a bridge.

Djent blows except for Meshuggah.

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

That's a really good read. I'm glad they included that Brushy One String video too, because I don't care what you say that's no different than the "djentstick" guy.

However I will not be selling my gear and investing in fenceposts and EMG 85s anytime soon.

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

Needs a Floyd, obviously.

Also, one end of that stick should be pointy ... doesn't matter which end, but one end has to be pointy.

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

hmmm a floyd not, way better a kahler baritone one string with hand carved chome and horns on the back attached tho the stick with just few clips and a wristband filled with lego pieces

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

I bet he couldn't play the beginning bass line to Running With the Devil on that thing! Maybe that's not a good example.

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

I'll like to hear one with some slide playing. Reckon it'd be a meaty as hell!

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

lol that is awesome, great post! all you need for DJENT ULTRA HEAVY UBER THRASH FUSION METALZ is:

1)EMG81
2) A STRING
3) A STICK

haha! Your mixing that Djentstick up with the mighty 80's Shredstick

...Djent frowns on floyds. It would have to be String-thru ;)

...& pointyness would be a no-no as well. You'd just need a black limba, Ziricote & cocobolo stick, with a zebrawood fingerboard & polynesian Koa/Pau ferro trimming....(all natural open-pore finish of course)

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

Total win.. Both absolutely hilarious just based on teh concept alone, but soo freaking awesome at the same time...

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

I don't think it's such a bad thing if you compose a song using just one string; if you watch that Brushy One String video in the link he's jamming out on that one string. Writing a good piece of simple piece can sometimes be as hard as writing an hour long symphony.

It is a little silly to drop a couple grand on an 8 string guitar with all sorts of exotic tonewoods if you're going to do it though :P

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

Those vids are awesome! I think the one with the stick sounded better than the original, and that one string guitar diddy had some upbeat Delta goin on!

So $10 000 just so you can play 3 notes on one of the strings.... Djent is a like the infomercials of rock genres....

Re: The 'Djentstick'.

This world is full of Djentsticks. :smash: Thanks for the new slang! :laugh2:

I hated the word Djent till now!
