The Les Paul of Fenders, my new plank! -pic heavy-

Oh yeah!:smokin: Totally smokin' and so was the price! This is easily the best guitar I've ever owned. 24 medium jumbo frets with zero fretwear, real abalone dot inlays, a very tasteful cherry burst on one of the best flame maple tops I've seen in a long time. Not to mention she's set neck, comes with locking tuners, graphite nut, and smoked chrome hardware. Was loaded with a RWRP 59 neck, and a Pearly Gates Plus bridge, which was a little too bright for my tastes, so it got swapped for an old JB, and now this thing sings! Acoustically, it's the loudest electric guitar I've played, just awesome, and it's light too! I used to have an older 2000 MIM Strat that was light and very acoustic, which I traded in for my Valveking, and have beaten myself up for ever since, but this more than makes up for it! The biggest suprise was when I opened up the pickup cavity, completely shielded! This sucker is silent, and the way Fender has the switching set up with the standard 5 way is pretty clever.
1 neck series
2 neck parrallel
3 neck/bridge series
4 neck and bridge outside coils
5 bridge full
It's super versatile, and every tone is totally usable. I like it so much, I think eventually I'll get a Jackson Soloist set up the same way, with the RWRP 59/JB combo, and that switching.

So without further ado, Fender Showmaster pics! :D

Very nice..nice big flame.. congrats Bro! :bigthumb:...I've had secret GAS for one of those for quite some time...but never have handled one in person.

Is this a MIM or MIA version?

congrats man that is a nice looking guitar!

Yeah, I was really astounded at how un-Fender it felt/sounded, very ballsy, very woody.

This one's actually MIK

Killer! Set neck and dub hums...nothing Fender about it except body shape and headstock. Sure is purdy looking...I'd hit it! Have fun.

I dig it a lot. If Fender would have done more stuff like that in the 70's and 80's they wouldn't have lost so much ground to the "superstrat" guitars. I really like the flame, matching headstock thing. Enjoy and play in good health.

Those axes rule, I especially love the tele versions of them.

Re: The Les Paul of Fenders, my new plank! -pic heavy-

Very cool. I'd love a 22 fret version.

That IMO is the only thing wrong with that axe, 24 frets! That in a 22fret version I would be all OVER!

I played a deluxe players Strat the other day, 12 inch radius, chunky neck profile, etc, etc, etc, and the only thing wrong with it was 21 frets! Get with it Fender!!!!!:smack: :) :) :)

I don't mind 21 vs 22 frets. I just don't dig the squished up positioning of the neck pickup on 24 fretters.

Yes, those are great guitars, especially considering how you can get one for very little money! Great value!

Re: The Les Paul of Fenders, my new plank! -pic heavy-

Yeah, it's pretty sweet. I do agree with the 24 fret thing, just something about a guitar's tone, 21/22 frets seems to be the sweet spot, they really sing, while 24 frets has the playability, it always seems to lose a little something, some mojo...it's something I've been debating over for a long time...

Big +1. like that 2 octave range, but the neck pup gets weird unless it is REALLY fat (59s work good here).

I'm 1) surprised this is Korean made

and

2) also surprised they didn't put a thin flame veneer on the headstock to match the body.....

Is the body basswood or alder?

And just gotta say again...VERY nice axe. Love that top! Congrats! :bigthumb:

Re: The Les Paul of Fenders, my new plank! -pic heavy-

JeffB - yeah, the MIK surprised me too, but the craftsmanship is impeccable, great finish, great fretwork, excellent hardware, a nice beefy brass sustain block under the bridge, the only thing that's really subpar is that the nut isn't quite right on the treble side, the strings don't sit high enough, so you get this twang when you play any of the top three open strings, and the high E doesn't sit low enough in the nut, if you wipe the strings down with a cloth, you run the risk of it slipping right out of the nut. Stays in tune remarkably well though.

Re: The Les Paul of Fenders, my new plank! -pic heavy-

The neck pickup sounds WAY better on a 24 fretter. Better definition and less mud, especially since it's a humbucker.

BTW, nice axe. Reminds me of my Jackson SL2H.
