Whats the point if it only brings low E to low D?

thats not retuning all the other strings, is it?
With a double locking tremelo system you are normally limited to only one tuning, but by adding the D-tuna you can use either standard tuning or Drop D tuning and still have a double locking system that keeps your strings in tune.

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

I know what drop D tuning is, and the mechanics of how a D-Tuna works, but I dont see how it'd also affect the other strings tune, considering its for locked trems, I'd see it working with a floating trem, but I dont understand how it could work with a blocked trem.

it has absolutly no effects on the other strings, that's why the bridge is blocked and the springs are pulling the trem-block up against whatever is blocking the bridge...

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

So its not like insta drop D tuning? It just gets E-D. So i guess it takes less time to retune, or something.

I really dont see a point unless you put a d-tuna on every bridge pice.

it is instant drop D tuning...

It goes instantly from Standard: EADGBe to drop D: DADGBe

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

So, you mean to say it's either block the trem and have the D-Tuna, or not block it and not have the D-Tuna? A bit different on how I percieved it, but okay.

I don't understand your question, or comment or whatever it was...

For the D-tuna to work properly the bridge must be block (if it was originally a floating trem)

Rock On :headbang:

Hmmm, I've never heard that tuning before.

I'll have to try it... :laugh2:

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

It sounds like out of tune ****.

And im serious, i've never heard a guitar in drop D, unless it was fully tuned a half step down.

The D-tuna was intented by Edward Van Halen, there are Van Halen songs in Drop D, have you listened to any Van Halen before?

Re: THE METAL RIG! *pics* Mesa/Boogie!!!

Uh yea, I listen to like van halen 90% of the time, and play alot of his songs.

They don't sound anything like him when I put it in drop D, it just sounds like its a half step off.

the advantage of drop d is playing power chords with 1 finger just laid flat barring the top 3 strings, it is used A LOT in several types of music.

Rock On!

"Unchained" is a classic example of dropped-D tuning. More generally, it's taking the low E string and dropping it down one whole step. So if your guitar is already tuned down half a step (i.e., Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb) then you'd drop your low string to Db. In standard tuning you'd drop the low string to D (hence the name "dropped-D tuning").
